A NEW MOMMY HANGOUT

We used to just joke about putting up a Mommy hangout of our own.  You know, a comfy place where it feels like sipping on a cup of coffee with Mommy friends while talking just about anything under the sun, say: our kids, our families, our individual endeavors, and even our littlest of secrets.

Well, it looked like there’s no room for joking anymore.  ;) We went a little step further about the idea of a cozy Mommy hangout.  And just today, we had the new hangout all ready and warmed up. Finally!

So in case you missed me here (haha, as if meron nakaka miss), it’s most likely that I am there—in the Mommy hangout, possibly having a cup of coffee or tea, and chitchatting over sooooo many Mommy chikas with Mommy friends.  And oh, it’s not exclusive just to us.  Every Filipino Mom out there, wherever part of the world you may be, you are most welcome to chitchat with us too at The Filipino Mom Blog.  Because motherhood is a journey best traveled with friends.

See you there! :)

KIND BLOGGER AWARD

And as always, Mitch gave me another blog badge here—the Kind Blogger Award! :)  Thanks a bunch Sis! You’re so kind talaga!

I know this line is already gasgas, but what can I do? That’s just the way it should be.  Passing this award to who else?  But my Mommy Blogger friends––Cookie, Cess, Chats, Lynn, Rach, Teacher Julie, Wenchie and of course, Mitch.

SOME GREAT THINGS ARE BETTER UNPLANNED

You know the saying: some great things happens just like that and yet they are unplanned?  I guess, I believe it now.

A treasured Blog friend and I have been planning to meet for the longest time since she arrived in Pinas last February.  The first was when she went to Manila for planning session, we planned to see one another. Sadly though, it didn’t happen because just minutes that we’re about to see (I was already nearing the meeting place an hour earlier and she was on her way too), my fone went low-to-no-batt and there was no way for her to contact me.  :(

Second time we planned to meet again, my family was on Holy Week vacation somewhere in Zambales.  But because she told me during our one of our YM conversations that she maybe going to a relative in Laguna with her Mom, I hesitated calling her na for a meetup since it was Lent season. Not known to me, her plan to spend the Holy Week in Laguna didn’t push through, so both of us regretted not texting each other during those days.

For the third time, again, we planned to meetup during the recent three-day weekend.  But we weren’t able to see again since Hubby had to meet a client in Manila on a Saturday afternoon so our supposed Subic vacation didn’t push through.

And then, early morning today, I got a text message from her.  Continue Reading »

MOMMY BLOGGERS WHO KICK ASS

Mitch, as always, passed to me a “quite unique” Blogger badge here.  It’s called the Kick Ass Blogger Award. :)

What exactly is a Kick Ass Blogger? The originator of the Tag says, A Kiss Ass Blogger is someone like:

Maybe they’ve got incredible, original content. Or they’re overflowing with creativity. Is it someone that helps you become a better blogger? Or a bloggy friend you know you can count on? Or maybe it’s someone who simply inspires you to be a better person… or someone else who sends you to the floor, laughing your ass off.  Whatever the reason may be, I’m sure you know at least a couple of bloggers that kick ass. Well… why not tell ‘em so?

Well, as for me, who else shall I think of? No one else but my Mommy Blogger friends––Cookie, Cess, Chats, Lynn, Rach, Teacher Julie, Wenchie and of course, Mitch. :) You definitely Kiss Ass, Mommies.  ;) And oh boy, if only I choose to gift each one of you, I’ll definitely think of something sexy, like bustiers! ;) So you can continue kick ass even with your Hubbies.

QUICK FACTS ON EVERYTHING ABOUT MY SHOES

Mitch tagged me here to share some quick facts about my shoes/feet. The Meme says:

What’s your shoe size? Are your feet the same size as your mom’s feet? How about your sister’s feet? Can you borrow shoes from each other?

Post a picture of your latest shoe buy. Tag the number of women of your shoe size, i.e. size 5 = tag 5 friends. Don’t forget to drop a line in this blog when you’re done.

My Mom, my sister and I have the same shoe size.  Size 5 to be exact.  Small size ei? Heehee. That’s precisely because we’re all petites! :) Well, at least it’s to our advantage because we seem to enjoy the privilege to borrow each ones shoes. And what’s best about it was me and my Sis need not spend much on signature/branded shoes like those Manolo Blahniks because our Mom, whose a self-confessed shoes shoppaholic (I tell you, she’s just an inch away to being an Imelda Marcos, LOL!), always have a pair to lend us whenever need arises.

Unlike my Mom though, I’m the type of person who treats buying shoes, or any footwear for that matter as a necessity rather than a luxury. Call me kuripot, but that’s just the way it is. Like Mitch, I go for multifunctionality vs. being more conscious on brands.  “Nasa nagdadala lang yan,” as Mitch had put it. :)

And as for my latest purchases, they’re not actually shoes, but colorful flipflops from Banana Peel. Thanks to Mitch, I was encouraged to shop too.  And mind you, I shopped not just for me, but for my family as well, including my Mom and my Sis (heehee, I purposely ordered for them so I can borrow their’s too).  These were what I got in my cart for just a little over P1,500.  And the good news, shipping is free of charge! EXCITED WITH THE TWO LONG WEEKENDS OF AUGUST

Over at Plurk last night (haha! yes, we’re into this addiction right now), Cookie, Chats and lil’o me was talking about the declared holidays for the month of August and gosh, did we all felt giddy excited realizing that the last two consecutive weekends (August 16-18 and August 23-25) are long weekends! August 18 is Ninoy Aquino Day so it’s a holiday and August 25, the following Monday, is National Heroes Day, a special non-working holiday as well. :)

And what makes it more exciting for Cookie and Chats was that, it’s even a longer weekend on their end since they are both Quezon City residents! As it is known, August 19th is Quezon City Day, so a non-working holiday for them again! Woooohoooo!

This conversation on long weekends then eventually led us to swap stories on what our plans for the much-anticipated long weekends are. Cookie and her hezzies and Hubby will be going to Subic for the nth time. :) Excited that she is, she’s done booking as early as now with a hotel in the Freeport zone. Chats, meanwhile is still thinking of her plans for the long weekends. But with more cheering and influencing from Subic-addicted Cookie, I won’t be surprise Chats will soon give in. Haha! WHEN LAID BACK, RELAXED FRIDAY BECAME STIRRED UP

My Fridays are usually laid back and more relaxed as it feels a prelude to the much-awaited weekend.  But for this particular Friday, it was not.  This Friday became stirred up crazy, really. After my usual logging over at Plurk yesterday morning,  the next thing I did was open my email inbox and there, the giddy excited feeling I’m wearing suddenly got my blood boiling to point because of an email I received.  It was from Paypal, notifying me of the incorrect bank information for the transfer of funds from my Paypal money to my bank account.

Apparently, after going through the wishy-washy ordeal of coordinating with the “not-so familiar with Paypal transactions” bank people (right T.Julie and Mitch?)and the bank’s “superbusy customer service hotline”, thankfully they were able to trace that the fault was their system which they’ll try to fix not later than Tuesday next week.

Perfect timing, really.  Just when I was expecting to be able withdraw the money yesterday after three weeks of waiting for my very own Unionbank EON Card and another week, for the Paypal transaction to be processed.  I’m supposed to use the Paypal money to purchase additional tiles for the little play area project we have for Nico.  The Paypal money is purposely intended for such purchase as I thought of it as a nice way to remember me by of “the floor tiles in Nico’s play area that paid blogging bought”.  Heehee.

Oh well, perhaps I have no other choice but to go with plan B now, which involves the use of the ever-reliable plastic money.  Though I’m really tempted to try out a plan out of the blue–a cash advance facility which I heard can deposit money overnight.  All I need to do is meet their not-really stringent requirements and that’s it! Instant money right away.   Hmm, decisions, decisions… ;)
