MOM AND SON DATE AT ACTIVE FUN
Having Mina in our lives has brought new and challenging experiences not only to me and Hubby, but for Nico as well. No matter how much emotional conditioning we did just as so Nico feels he is loved (and will always be loved no matter what!), jealousy kicked in at some point, probably because of the attention that Mina usually gets. Being his Mom, I was sensitive to recognize this feeling. Involving him in caring for his little sister sure did make him feel he is an important part of the family. We knew though this wasn’t enough to take some of those bits of jealousy away. So his Dad and I made an agreement that we’ll make an extra “strong” effort to always set quality time with Nico, exclusively. And this, I promised myself I will do whenever time would permit it.
Such special mommy and son date happened last Friday. Nico just finished the last leg of his exams in school and I thought that a little special treat would cheer him up. And just as I was hunting for a place where the two of us could go, an invite for mommy bloggers from the proponents of the newly-opened Active Fun Play and Party Center at SM North Edsa came. What perfect timing!
Being a five-year old and very physically playful at that, I knew Active Fun was the perfect place for us two to have fun while at the same time bond.
Nico had so much fun trying over and over the colorful slides (which I think were the longest indoor slides he had ever tried!) while I had fun taking his pictures.

He also enjoyed stepping on the giant piano (I think it was way bigger than LCD tvs
), listening to different tones it creates.

But his most favorite of all was at the balls area where he was enthusiastic to get the most balls he can in his hand and throw them to a sort of a pressurized tunnel where balls are zapped up.

In between play, I was happy to check on his back and wipe his sweating—something I realized I missed doing for a long, long time.
Oh, how he has grown to be the independent big boy that he is! Where did time go? I suddenly missed the little baby Nico. ![]()
After some two good hours of play at Active Fun, it was time to go. When I asked my big boy if he had fun, he didn’t utter a word, but hugged me soooo tightly instead. Oh, how my heart melt! I knew it was his way of saying how happy he was for the time we spent together.
