I WANT MY YAYA
I Want My Yaya is a mini story book I bought for Nico during our short trip to the Mall last Saturday.

From the words of the author Annette Flores Garcia, “the book explores the warm and sometimes wacky in and outs of life with and without a yaya. It also celebrates a child’s first attempts at doing things by herself”.
The story is about Blesilda, a little girl who misses her Yaya Nana. Yaya Nana left just after Blesilda’s 5th birthday and her Mama thought of getting a new Yaya to cheer up the little girl.

Her Tita Mela helped in finding a new Yaya. First she brought Yaya Mauring. But Yaya Mauring is very fond of sleeping and napping over work and while looking after Blesilda so her Mama decided to let her go.

Blesilda was left with no more Yaya, yet she played all by herself the whole afternoon and didn’t even demanded her Mama’s attention.

Then her Tita Mela brought Yaya Tabata the following day. But Yaya Tabata loves to eat too much (too much that I think she badly needs weight loss pills), so Blesilda’s Mama decided to let her go.

Blesilda was left with no more Yaya again, yet she brushed her teeth alone and combed her hair all by herself. She didn’t even need Mama’s help to do things for her.

Then the following day, her Tita Mela brought another Yaya again. Her name was Yaya Dianasura. But Yaya Dianasura have this habit to always shout on Blesilda, so her Mama decided to let her go.

Blesilda, again, was left with no more Yaya, yet she dressed all by herself and put on her socks and shoes on. Her Mama offered helped but she said she can do it all by herself.

Her Mama asked if she still needs a Yaya, and Blesilda was quick to answer she doesn’t need one. Yes, she misses her Yaya Nana but she loves doing things all by herself.

is that to prepare Nico from not having a yaya afterwards?.. the story just shows how hard it is to find the right yaya.. i haven’t decided yet on how we will organize when i get back to work.. i want a nanny just near our place! if only i could get one, pinoy style.. as in stay-in yaya.. hay buhay, we can’t get everything we want, can we?

hi Analyse! actually, two months na din walang Yaya si Nico. we decided to let her go. long story, here’s the brief: http://fengguillermobrum.com/2008/08/17/the-day-that-we-started-doing-the-house-chores-all-by-ourselves/
I personally choose that mini story book to further motivate Nico to do things all by himself, even without the shadow of a Yaya, who constantly does things for him. so far, so good.
we’re happy with how he’s trying his best to be a little more independent. even his Teacher Chie in school says she’s been seeing a lot of improvement as far as Nico’s independence is concerned.
I do hope you find a good Nanny when you get back to work. how about getting referrals from co-Filipino friends there?
Cute ng story.
Glad I’m now over this problem. Kasi I won’t need one anymore dahil ako na ang yaya ni Deye hehe! Kidding aside, I had the same worries and wish as Analyse’s. Kung sana uso lang din dun ang stay in yaya malamang I chose to stay back kahit wala na si Derrick dun.

hi Sis! oo, I love the story too. sobrang nakaka relate.
lucky you because Deye’s Lola and Tito and Tita are there to readily look for her on days you have to attend to important matters.
mahirap talaga living in a foreign country, hindi uso duon ang stay in Yayas. but IMHO, masarap din naman ang feeling na walang kasama sa bahay. the kids, even at their young ages, learn to do things for themselves. nakakatuwa. si Nico these days, nauutusan na mag arrange ng clothes nya for laundry sa washing machine.
We haven’t had a yaya for years! The children can’t even understand why and what we need a yaya for.
That book is a wonderful read. Kami naman we have that book, “May Leon sa Aking Dibdib” re asthma

TJ, sobrang nakaka relate lang ako, kaya binili ko na agad nung nakita ko sa bookstore.
LOL at that book on asthma. may isa pa akong binili, published by Lampara Publications din: Juan Tamad.
ako rin, no yaya for years, and looks like we won’t be needing one anymore. at saka, oo, ang hirap talaga maghanap ng ok na yaya. parang love story, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your yaya charming

Hi Cess! too late for a yaya, Sandra and Troi are big kids na.
mahirap talagang maghanap ngayon. it’s seldom nowadays to find a good one, kaya naman pag nakatagpo ng maayos na Yaya, dapat tine treasure talaga. I guess, not our luck to find a good one. at sana, mapanindigan talaga namin na wag na kumuha pa, ever! *fingers crossed*
