BLOGGING HORIZONS WIDENED TO A KALEIDOSCOPE OF IDEAS

Last Sunday, I went to the Philippine Blogs Awards 2008 together with the rest of the beautiful FMB Mommies and sweet Rach, who was our bet for the Bloggers’ Choice Award. Aside from Rach, we were there to support and cheer for our special ed guru Teacher Julie too, whose post on Study Habits was nominated for the Best Single Post in the Family & Living Category. :)

It was my first time ever to attend such Blogging event, and as I enter the huge room of Esplanade and saw the faces behind those Blogs which I used to just read online, I can’t help but feel a wee bit of introspection. Pardon for being a little bit sentimental, but honestly, never in my wild imagination I’d be pursuing going to events like that ever in my entire Blogging life.

Two years back when I first engaged myself into Blogging, my only intention was to express my thoughts on motherhood and document my son’s milestones. But look how far I’ve clicked and landed. It was through Blogging that I’ve met so many of my wonderful friends now. Some of them even have become my most treasured friends in real life. We share our littlest of secrets, we share about our daily mundane in life, and we share our own joys and challenges along our journey to motherhood. I can only be thankful for what Blogging has brought me. And that nonetheless, completed me already. Can’t ask for anything more. I was happily and contentedly sitting somewhere in that “little corner” of the Blogsphere with my friends, until that night of the Blog Awards.

As the nominees were enumerated and as each of the winners of the different categories were announced, I can’t help but feel ecstatic and somewhat “starstruck”. It was great knowing the different facets of the Philippine Blogging community. From the young professionals, to the tech savvies, to food experts, to the fashion gurus, to the hobbyists, and travelers, those involved in the entertainment world, and of course, the Mommy Bloggers like us :) —Filipino bloggers in different colors and hues, each were all well-represented in the PBA. As an article in the imprint distributed at the PBA stated:

In the virtual world where ideas take the form of the word, images, sound, and moving images published online, the Filipino Blogging Community has become a Kaleidoscope of Ideas.

Two days past that PBA affair, now I find myself subscribing and reading the feeds of the Blogs I’ve known and discovered through PBA. Many of them may not even share the same Mommy experiences which I generally record in my online diary, but I’ll go ahead and read on and widen my horizon. :) As Sen. Mar Roxas, who delivered a very inspiring keynote address before hundreds of bloggers at the PBA had put it: “People from all walks of life, it is great to know their thoughts of the world. Makes one equipped and holistic in facing the real world.”

The blogosphere is full of interesting blog posts, ideas, thoughts, whatever (or ok, interesting people).

I have not had any regrets being a blogger. I am able to reach out to people who I can help and who can help me but I have met interesting friends too :)

I love reading the stories of bloggers from all walks of life as well. :) at syempre, mas masarap to meet them in person like what happened during the recent PBA.

Hi Feng, it’s really a fun night, am glad I came. Like you, I just wanted to write my thoughts on my blog and document my kids’ milestones in life. I didn’t imagine I would meet wonderful people like you guys. So now I have my new barkada, the mommy bloggers. Heaven-sent kayo saken kasi all my closed friends are abroad na while some naman they’re so busy with their careers or family. Thankful talaga ko I’ve discovered the blogosphere.
