THE HOUSECHORES I HATE, THE HUSBAND LOVES DOING

Mitch tagged me here to share something about the house chores I hate and the reasons why I hate them.

I am proud to say that my parents trained me and my siblings early on to take responsibility of sharing housechores at home. I remember being kinda stubborn and somewhat lazy when my Mom assigned certain chores to me like washing the dishes alternately with my Sister and sweeping the floor in our forestly-like backyard then in the province every morning. :)

Good thing my Mom, being the most patient person that she was, never gave up and persisted still in training us, no matter how hesitant we her kids were. Soon enough, my Mom and Dad succeeded in instilling the lessons of responsibilities to us. It gave us all the sense of team work and pride in the work we’ve accomplished that followed us all throughout our lives. Like, it became beneficial in more ways and worked for our advantage, especially now that we all have our own families.

Two housechores though that I never get used to doing haunted me when Hubby and I got married.

First, the dreaded ironing of clothes which I can’t seem to really do so well even if we’re equip with a good ironing board, a quality steam iron, and a bottle of starch spray. The ironing chore is simply just soooo taxing, I always have a damage run on the clothes, my favorite victims being Hubby’s corporate barongs and long sleeves. So a few weeks into our marriage, Hubby, of fear I might have more casualties of our clothes, willingly volunteered doing the ironing chore since then. You wouldn’t believe it, but he’s so sipag ironing that even Nico’s crib bedding that’s supposedly are wash-dry-folds, he sees the need to iron. And I’m so impressed how things turned out. Even our former kasambahays were one in saying that the way Hubby iron the clothes, they looked like they were pressed by professionals! Haha!  And now that we’re left with no househelps, Hubby takes on this housechore that I really hated.

Second chore that I really raised a white flag for is scrubbing those nasty and crusty pots and pans. Washing the dishes is one kitchen duty I find therapeutic, but scrubbing pots and pans which are the dirtiest and most time-consuming task, I really hate doing. I’d rather be forced throwing out charcoaled-like pans than taking the pain of cleaning them by the scrub with my poor hands. And good thing again, there’s a Hubby always to the rescue. He sooooo loves reclaiming crusty pans (especially our ancient-old kawali) back to life and it’s old glory! May pa pickpick pa nang scrubbing leaves from the tree and using charchoal na pang scrub, at kung ano-anong seremonyas syang nalalaman, mapaputi lang ang bottoms ng pans! Hehe!

And since we don’t have the luxury of a maid since last week, we’re back to the basics the way we use to seven years ago.  We’re back to sharing the household chores together. And here’s the Hubby doing a good scrubbing of our kawali last Saturday morning.

I just have to take a photo of him doing that while I’m in the midst of sweeping the floor in our living room. Very therapeutic really. Even tired and all, I still felt a sigh of relief knowing I have a very domesticated Hubby to share the housework with me. :)

Buti pa si Daddy Jun, masipag. Hubby grew up with maids in their home, hindi sanay sa housework. He does housework too, pag naasar kasi tamad ako :D

I dread ironing too, the washers do that for us, at PhP60/kilo :D
