THE QUEEN OF MISHAPS
Have you heard of the song Ako ang Hari ng Sablay? I think if there’s a Queen for that, it definitely is me. You see, after I accidentally stepped on a big nail late May 2008, another unfortunate incident happened in my-full-of-mishaps-world the past few days. I accidentally ate a big fish tinik last week and it irritated my throat, thanks to a sumptuous sinangag and daing na bangus breakfast I had last week. The irritation was so bad that the throat was so swollen, it got me nursing a high fever for two days-yesterday and Monday.
So with advices from Teacher Julie (she felt the fever I’m wearing when we saw each other last Monday), I went to an ENT doctor yesterday and have my throat seen. Apparently, there was an infection and it was really bad. The doctor had to take a skin sample of a part that he saw swelling, and have it seen in the laboratory for biopsy. Now, how he took the skin sample got me all nervous. Armed with his surgical scissor and a little whisk of anesthesia somewhere in my throat, I saw with my two eyes through a mirror how the skin was cut like a paper! Yikes! Ewww! I nearly fainted. But am glad it’s over and done with.
Right now, am on antibiotics for seven straight days (again!) with hopes that the swelling will soon subside. Sigh. Oh well, if there’s anything good that this new mishap episode gave me, it’s the unexpected shedding of some unwanted pounds. You wouldn’t believe it, but just for a few days, I lost 2.5 pounds already.
Poor Queen of Mishaps Me, really. What next? Being trapped on saddles? *knocks on wood* I hope not. Next time, I’ll really be extra careful, promise!
