WHEN LAZINESS IS TURNED INTO CREATIVITY

It’s Friday today on my side of the planet and am already in a weekend mode. Good thing there’s nothing much to do today, except for some pending paper works for Hubby related to our little growing business. First on my list of to do’s which I have accomplished this far is our monthly billing statements for our clients. Gee, that sure is important and it was what I prioritized or else, our delivery boys will not be salaried tomorrow. ;)

My second task would be to do our BIR papers like SAWT (Statement of Assets and Withholding Taxes) and the Monthly Percentage Tax Return or Form 2551M. Geez, that’s one drawback with a Non-VAT business like ours, you always have to accomplish and file these papers to BIR or else you’ll get penalized. Actually, these papers are really easy to accomplish. It’s only a matter of simulating the income vs. the expenses, then attaching the receipts, and that’s it. Well, that is, if not the lazy me didn’t have the drive to finish thetasks as early as possible. These are those matters that will have a percentage of our hard-earned money going to Mr. Caesar a.ka. BIR, and whenever the end of month nears, it’s just so difficult to accomplish this task.

And since there’s still tomorrow anyway…. Guess what? I temporarily put the BIR papers aside and did something that’s not so urgent. But I swear Hubby would be happy to know this later when he’s home because I’ll claim it’s laziness converted into creativity.

You don’t believe me, don’t you? Oh, well then take a look:

It’s a logo for our little growing business! Not so urgent I know, but still, I had the great encouragement to do as creatively and as quickly as I could. You see, our little business is now running over a year plus but ever since it started, we’ve been using just a plain image searched at MS Office’ Clipart for our IDs and letterheads.

And why not? A logo design website that I stumbled in the world wide web helped me create an equally good business logo. It’s as easy as 1-2-3 and what’s best about it was, there’s no registration fee or whatsoever credit card required because there’s a free demo!

The name of the site is LogoYes, a leading provider of do-it-yourself logos and other premium design products to small businesses around the world. LogoYes pioneered do-it-yourself logo creation and have a patent pending on its unique processes. What’s more, the site’s superior quality of symbols and ease of use made it one of the web’s most popular design sites.

Anyway, here’s how I did it. First, I chose an image from the main three choices. There’s the High-Tech images for companies that are innovative, fast-paced and technically advance; there’s the Bold images befitting for companies that are experienced, stable and trustworthy; and finally, there’s the Flair images for companies that are creative, responsive and service-oriented. And since our little business is into delivery services, I chose the Flair images.

Next, I was prompted with buttons to select what industry category our business is at. From there, I was pretty amazed with how the industries and fields are classified. And right there, I clicked Delivery and Storage which is but fitting for our business which involved delivery services. For the Delivery and Storage Category, there are so many images and logos to choose from. Of course, I chose the one with the symbol of a bird (a globe with wings) since the name of our business is Early Bird. ;)

And then, the third, fourth and fifth steps would be typing my name and a second line to it then customizing the font and color of the text and the logo. After a little tinkering and exploring and trying the fonts and colors, I finalized the logo and then, that’s about it. Done! The logo is ready to be matched with a business card!

Now, you believe me? It’s very simple, right? Anyway, I think we’ll make a go, go, go for this logo. It will surely equip our small business with an equally good brand value. ;)

and so I agree Raq! businesses are most often identified through its faces. branding is very important and one way to achieve an identified brand is through business cards. ;)

having a great looking business card can really jumpstart any business transaction. personally, yan ang una kong tinitignan..yung design. call it bias pero pag medyo baduy yung card, parang iniisip ko…ay di man lang pinag-isipan..medyo tamad siguro.

hi Cookie. and I agree with you as well. pareho tayo ng measure for judging the company on first impressions— sa business card muna. mas lalo naman nakaka turn off pag hiningan mo ng biz card tapos sasabihin, naubusan. geez, it’s like walking in a public place without a face. hehe. ;)
