KEEPING A FOUR-YEAR OLD FROM BOREDOM

How do you keep a four-year old from getting bored in the middle of summer vacation?

First, every corner and walls around the home are pasted with Manila paper for the Little Boy to draw. This should keep the busy Mommy from rubbing and cleaning smudges of crayons. Second, the Mommy invite kids in the neighborhood to come over the house once in a while to play with the kid whose just plain bored playing with either only Mommy or Daddy. And third, occupying him with an hour or two of swimming lessons in mid-morning that was meant exactly to exercise his lungs, tire him, and eventually lead him to a deep slumber for the rest of the afternoon.

All of these, Mommy dragged everyday just to keep a four-year old occupied… and yet, the Little Boy is still bored? Whattda???

But the other day, in the middle of doing the endless cycles of house chores, the clever Mommy found something in the garage already dusting in gray. Then suddenly, ting! She had this brilliant idea!

It’s the good old bike, size 16 and all, it has unnoticeably been forgotten since it was bought by Daddy back in December last year. The bike served as a replacement to the odd Christmas gift that the Dad intentionally gave the Little Boy. A minor accident out of trying to ride the bike happened just about two or three days since the Little Boy had it though, so the poor bike was left neglected in the garage. :(

But its been months anyway since the little mishap happened, so the Mom thought another try won’t hurt. ;) And guess what? It worked! The Mommy was jumping with joy despite the little misadventures. Bruises in the knees, bumps here and there, sometimes with a little more crying and whining and what have yous–ahhh, still a-okay with her!

The Little Boy is kept busy and he’s actually loving riding the bike! And in no time, I think he’ll learn to ride it without the supporting two little wheels. Yey! I just hope he’ll never tire of the bike, or else, I have to think of something else again. Fingers crossed.

PS. I’ve taken photos yesterday afternoon to remember me by. Here’s sharing:

Gearing to ride.

Hello people, watch me bike out.

Hey, this is cool!

See, I’m happier now. No-no to boredom for now.

It’s good that Nico has biking to add to his fun summer activities.

Yohan has a neglected bike. He prefers riding his motorized car although it’s getting too small for him. Tamad kasi si Yohan mag pedal. :)

Not sure if my comment went in. Hope I don’t double post.

Glad to see that Nico has biking to add to his fun summer activities. Yohan has a neglected bike. He prefers to ride his motorized car although it’s getting a little cramped for him. We need to save for a bigger one sooner or later. Tamad kasi si Yohan mag pedal. :)

hi Weng! :) hindi naman masyado nagpapa athlete, gusto lang namin mapapagpag ang mga fats nya sa katawan, haha! pero hayaan mo at mamaya, yayayain kong mag jogging, haha!

you better buy a bike for Abby na! gandang form of developing her motor skills. but be ready with those helmets, knee pads at take note: dapat naka pants para iwas-gasgas sa legs.
