MANILA FAME INTERNATIONAL, 48TH ED

[This post is especially for Teacher Julie. ;) Hope your busy schedule would still permit a visit to the fair. It will be worth it, I guarantee you.]

This year marks an important milestone for the bi-annual trade event (the fair is held every April and October of the year) as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. ;)

The fair is now housed in a new venue, the SMX Convention Center of the SM Mall of Asia.

The ground level houses the houseware and home decor; kitchen and tableware; furniture and furnishings; bed, bath and linen; lamps, lighting fixtures and votives; garden accessories and articles; and gifts. The second level meanwhile offers arts and crafts; holiday decor; costume jewelry, leathergoods; fashion complements and footwear; and the newest addition–health and wellness. :)

Some more quick facts about the fair: (1) It is the only trade fair in the country recognized by the Union Des Foires Internationales or UFI, the union of the world’s leading trade show organizers, fairground owners and major national and international associations of the exhibition industry; (2) The fair has only not proven its mettle as Asia’s leading design event, but also its ability to create wealth through the promotion of innovative and contemporary products in the world market. In 2007 for example, about 5,800 foreign buyers and local buying agents visited the show. These buyers accounted for $93.7 million in total sales, helping generate the needed energy to power a dynamic export industry; and (3) The show has also proven to be contributor to Philippine tourism. Twice a year, buyers from more than 80 countries come to the country, spending an average of P86 million–a boost to the income of nearby hotels, restaurants and other local business establishments. How cool was that huh? There are so many important recurring issues of national concern that truly affects us Filipinos, but I do believe that positive developments around the country such as the fair deserves a space in our hearts as Pinoys who should be all proud of our exporters’ excellent craftsmanship and creativity. ;)

How I wish I can share many photos as I could. But as you know, it’s a must that those in the organization and industries we serve should have the first crack on everything. Or else, I will be doomed at work. Heehee.

Anyway, here’s sharing the “safest photos” I got—the lil’o me and my two makukulit na associates at work who went with me during the coverage of the show’s opening. Haha, at least, kami ang nasa photos, and can be claimed as our personal ones.

Heehee, lil’o me was feeling a wee bit Christmassy in this holiday decor booth.

Ayan, evidence na nagwo-work kuno. ;)

Eto pa isa, walang ginawa kundi mag-preview ng shots.
Nag-iisip na kung ano pang photo release. ;)

Kunwari daw behaved. ;) Heehee. We’re just waiting to
take some more photo opps of the dignitaries here.

And syempre, we rewarded ourselves with a good lunch after a hard day’s work. ;)

We used to participate here!! I used to supply components for Christmas decors for several companies who joined FAME. This was the time that the association for Christmas decor producers were strong. Kaya lang na-overrun na sila ng China. It’s my sister who has taken over now and may mga orders pa din. We used to do mostly paper stuff. Our products were marketed in Europe and the US. May mga nakalusot din sa Middle East.

Kelan ba yan? Tagal ko ng di nag-aatend eh.

wow Cookie. am so delighted to know that! our exporters really have the excellent craftsmanship and creativity that never fails to pass the distinct taste of foreign buyers, and despite stringent requirements. ;)

re: China, eh ano pa nga bang i expect natin with them. mahirap kasi, ang galing galing manggaya ng Chinese competitors. iibahin lang ng konti ang material or i modify lang ng konti ang design, ayun, they’ll claim it’s their original design. well, long debate on copyright issues ito. :( but nonetheless, malakas pa rin naman ang holiday decor sector. it’s one of our major export revenue streams, as a matter of fact. :)

the show runs from yesterday till on the 18th. yung 18th open to the public. if you’re interested in coming, email or text mo lang ako, I’ll have it arranged with the associates in the organization assigned there. ;) heehee, pwede naman ma consider na press ang Bloggers, that was what associates told me. T.Julie din kasi is planning to go there kaso daw depende sa availability ng driver a.k.a. Hubby nya.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! FENG!!!!!! The second photo, TOPMARK!!!, that’s our company!!!! Gosh I’m so excited!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! :) I’ve been waiting for photos from my Mom but she’s very busy with the fair. She’s the lady in white with her back turned to the camera. Ikaw ha, baka makopya ang items namin. Hahaha!

You work for CITEM? Naku, baka dati pa tayo nagkikita! We’ve been exhibiting at the Manila F.A.M.E. since 1995. Uy Feng, media mileage for our company ha. Bigyan mo kami ng magandang exposure. ;) Hahaha! :P Joke!

Introduce yourself to my Mom. Tell her we’re friends. :) You don’t know how happy you just made me. I miss being at the fairs so much. :( Ako ang nagbabantay ng booth namin all the time. Oh well, not anymore. Haaay. Paano pa ako matutulog nito. Super naexcite ako. :)

    Thanks, Feng! Mmmmmmwaaaaah! :)

Weengggggg! Like you, na-excite din ako ng todo, promise. :) Tingnan mo nga naman ang pagkakataon, little did we know, there’s something that connects us pala!

Heehee. alam mo naman, ang isa sa mga concerns ng ating mga exporters is copyright issues. hay, walang katapusang debate yan. buti na lang, sadyang very creative and competitive ang mga Pinoy designers that makes them shine in the international market. and that includes you, Weng!

am from the Head Office po, sa Media Relations unit. am the account officer assigned to assist in the media and comm requirements for our International Trade Group Offices, including CITEM. naks, kala mo big time eh noh? heehee. CITEM has it’s own Publicity Division though, kaya our involvement there is just complementary. hayaan mo’t mangungulit ako dun for press mentions. haha!

sayang noh, Weng. mas maganda na lalo ngayon kasi the show is housed at the newly-opened SMX Convention Center of SM Mall of Asia. dati kasi diba, three different venues just to house everything. di bale, malay mo, mag-vacation kayo dito, sana mataon na may fair para happy happy.

oy sya, matulog ka na. :)

naku Raq, should you have been in another fair here, ie. National Trade Fair, ang daming magagandang lanterns from Pampanga. at mura pa, especially if you buy on the last day, sale na ang mga items.

kaya nga din, much as I enjoy being part of the Secretariat in fairs, madalas gusto kong magpalit ng ID at maging visitor/buyer sa fairs. nakakawili kasi mamili. :)

we also have expositions and missions abroad.

Argh! I didn’t even see this post soon. Just wrote some sponsored ones in my tj.com blog today and I haven’t updated since Sunday pa. Been a little busy with writing the summer programs and some work-related concerns plus the other blog that I have.

Last day tomorrow, right? Driver still can’t make it, needs to go to LTO to have some papers checked re car plate. He has to, we had been held by a TMG duo who got money from us. I got a photo of their car and his voice recorded. There, first time to write this online. Haven’t blogged about this. Yet.

    Wonderful photos, siyempre.

I also enjoyed your dike photos. How can we go to that place in Tanay? Looks cool there.
