WHAT’S IN OUR FAMILY FOOD MENU?

We went to see Nico’s pediatric pulmonologist for a follow-up check up yesterday, finally (after postponing and canceling our long-overdue appointment). After bouts and bouts of terrible coughs that he had last year, the check up was required by the doc to see the Little Boy’s susceptibility in acquiring asthma. Thank goodness because during the doc’s assessment, he said that Nico’s doing pretty well as far as his weight management is concerned, which should put the threats of asthma at bay.

Nico’s still in the overweight category (heavy at 23 kilos), but the doc’s pretty impressed to see that Nico have not gained weight for the past three months. “Tumangkad lang pero buti naman at hindi nadagdagan ang timbang,” the doc says and even kidded we stop calling Nico our Little Boy because he’s taller by a few centimeters since the last checkup (112 cms as of todate). Heehee, buti na lang at hindi nagmana ng pagkabansot sa Mommy at Daddy. ;)

Anyway, we were really grinning ear to ear hearing the doc’s assessment because at the very least, it was a good measure that the weight management we’ve been doing back second week of December is paying off. It was kinda difficult hurdling through the weight management program at first especially that Nico’s drastically switched from powdered milk to now fresh milk, but the Continue Reading »

LOVIN’ THE GREENS AT LA MESA ECOPARK

09 March 2008 — On weekends, we usually troop the Mall as a way to have a good break from the busy week that had passed. That is, if laziness didn’t kicked in or else we just stay at home. ;) It’s been the most convenient means of relaxation since aside from the many choices of places to eat out, the Mall also offers a place to attend the Sunday service, pay important utility bills, and of course, shop. ;) It’s like a one-stop shop that have almost everything (sabi nga ng SM: We’ve got it all for you!), thus we need not go from one place to another.

On some weekends though, we opt to go to other places than the Malls. As Hubby had put it once, “para naman, ma miss natin ang Malls kahit konti”. And that’s what exactly happened yesterday.

After hearing the Mass at the small chapel within our subdivision, we thought of going through a sort of little nature tripping in a Park not so far from the metropolis–the La Mesa Ecopark. We spent over one good hour before we reached the place since we live central east of Metro Manila, but the wait was all worth it. Loving nature and all its greens to the fullest!

Here’s sharing random photos of our wonderful encounter with nature ;) Continue Reading »

THE MAKINGS OF A DELIVERY BOY

Now that Nico’s graduation day is nearing, my Little Boy together with his classmates are practicing almost three times a week for their much-awaited day. One of the parts of the ceremony is for the preschoolers to introduce themselves, say how old they are, and what they want to be when they grow up. Two weeks ago, Teacher told me Nico recited he wanted to be a doctor, which I am not really surprised to hear. Well, we have been constantly telling him that we envisioned him to be a doctor someday–a Pediatric Cardiologist, that is. ;) And the reason, well, quite simple. That post here should tell it all. ;)

Anyway, yesterday, when I fetched Nico after his class, the Teacher approached me excitedly to mention about something hilarious that the Little Boy did mention during the graduation practice. “Naku Mommy, nakakatuwa ang anak nyo. Iba na naman ang gustong maging,” said Teacher Jovie. “Ay talaga po, ano daw po yun?” I replied with all excitement. “Naku eh, gusto daw po nyang maging Delivery Boy gaya ng Daddy nya,” she said. Hahaha, we were so laughing really good while talking. But well, I explained to Teacher that just as the first what do you want to be when you grow up, I am not surprised why these days, Nico wanted to be a Delivery Boy. He’s been exposed to seeing his Dad doing delivery stuff for the little growing business so frequently, that’s why. ;)

On a serious note though, I know it will still be years and years more before we get to cross that bridge of guiding him on a career path. And if not for too much thinking this fast forward, we wished he’d be a doctor, that is, if we were to choose. ;) But like most doting and guiding parents out there, we’re all for what our son would be happy at–wherever his passion is, as they say. I have to believe that that’s all that matters, right? And if time-tested and he’s really serious about the one hilarious dream that he wanted to be, I’m with him, walang halong biro. Pero naman, sana (cross fingers), Boss naman ng mga delivery boys! ;)

A little comic strip to remember me by of yesterday’s. Photos were taken last Saturday when Nico and I joined the Hubby in filing returns to a client, prior to our crazy unplanned trip to Ocean Park. You’ll be the judge if he’s indeed a Delivery Boy in the making. ;) Continue Reading »

HONING HIS READING SKILLS THROUGH E-LEARNING

[This post also serves as my entry to the PMN FamPics’ March Theme: Learning] ;)

Naks, the title sounds big shot ano? :) Kala mo kung ano nang seryosong kwento sa Blog na ito. Heehee. But kidding aside, in addition Nico’s fondness of playing online computer games (which I’ve already talked about here), my Little Boy has been really more inspired and motivated to hone his reading skills more since he was introduced to the great e-learning site called Starfall.com a week ago. Thanks to the heads up by Thet (Hi Thet! How I wish I can already reveal your link ;) ) and Cess, we’ve discovered this very interactive e-learning site whose geared towards developing the reading skills of preschoolers in a fun and playful way. :)

Just look at how hooked Nico was in these photos: Continue Reading »

THE PASYAL GRINCH AND AN UNPLANNED TRIP TO MANILA OCEAN PARK

The Hubby saw Manila Ocean Park’s inauguration in the news the other day, so when I asked Friday night where we will make pasyal on weekend, he said suggested the marine-themed park.

The Pasyal Grinch Me
But even with the park’s inaugural in news reports, I doubted at first hand if the park is already open for public because for so many months, I have to believe that many expectators were kinda disappointed with the deferment of the park’s opening for so many times. As early as the first semester of 2007, it was said in the newspapers that the park will open December 2007. But then it was deferred. Another announcement came, which I learned through tarpaulins posted along Roxas Blvd. saying that the park will open February 2008. But same as the first announcement, it was deferred again. But Hubby was insistent that the theme park is already open, “Sige na, puntahan mo yung site nila so we’ll know the details”. So we surfed the park’s site, but unfortunately it was down. We googled it up and through Anton’s thread of comments in this post, we learned the opening was yesterday.

But still, I wasn’t that keen in going. I was kinda lazy to go out (umiral na naman ang katamaran, nyahaha) and so when the Hubby asked me early morning yesterday what our plans were for the day, I said we move our Ocean Park pasyal on a later date (come April or May perhaps) and instead, bum around the home and just go out to do our grocerying after Nico’s long-afternoon nap. So though itching to go, Hubby rested his case. Continue Reading »

DINNER DATE WITH MOMMY BLOGGERS

Raquel, the Germany-based clever housewife and homeworked Mom, and at the same time the editor of Pinoy Mom Network’s Home and Garden Section, was in town with her family for a short vacation. And being the blogging berk that she is, not to be missed in her itinerary are meetups with Blogger friends, including her Mommy blogger friends. ;) And right timing because it so happened that the Eating Club :) is set to meet anytime February, so a dinner date was firmed up right away.

The fantastic dinner date happened 28 February. And in the companies of Raq, Dine, Noemi, Cookie, Wenchie, Rach, Lynn, Julie and moi, all you can hear at one cozy corner of Burgoo Podium were Mommies in squeals of laughter in between chitchatting and eating, with kids playfully having fun too on the side. It was almost (or past?) 9 o’clock when we wrapped up but it seemed the tick of the clock was just too fast, we hardly notice it. In short, bitin ang kwentuhan. Heehee.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure, there will be more meetups next time, and when that happens, I hope I can join again. ;)

Here’s sharing random photos of that dinner date with PMN Mommies. Continue Reading »
