WHEN A KID’S BOREDOM STRIKES

After rounds and rounds of hectic school days, most especially the last two weeks stretch, it’s officially vacation for Nico last Thursday. It’s a day much anticipated by everyone in the household (especially me) because at least we’ll be spared from the early morning rush, finally! You know, the regular morning routine of waking up the Little Boy as early as 6AM, finishing breakfast in no more than 20 minutes, preparing his baons (na may kasama pang protesta minsan because the Little Boy sometimes demand the not-so healthy ones), and hurrying Nico to dress up in no time (eh madalas pa, ayaw magpatulong magbihis sa akin, big boy na daw kasi sya!). Hay naku…

And so when Thursday came, I’ve afforded to at least be a little bit laid back when it comes to doing the Mommying chores. “Hay salamat, VACATION na!!!” that’s how loud I’ve said it first thing in the morning of Thursday. After finishing a couple of chores and some kulitan time with the Little Boy, I went straight to the Office hours before lunchtime just to check on some working papers. Before heading to the Office though, I’ve told our house angels to give something to keep Nico occupied while I am away. Say, something to color, or if the Little Boy wants it, he can play with kids in the neighborhood. That way, he’ll never feel bored. ;)

And so, I was away for a few hours and when I came back home early afternoon, these were what greeted me:

Yay, look at those scribblings in his dresser.

Hay naku….talaga naman!

Yikes, even our wooden floor in the bedroom was not spared.

Surprise, surprise! Oh no, this was the first time in months that he did these so called “murals” in our home. Over the last couple of months, Nico can be politely asked not to write on anything in the home, walls or furniture it may be, and that the proper way was for him to always use papers in case he wants to draw or scribble. And so soon as I get to speak with the Little Boy, I asked why he did it again when in the first place, he already knew what’s the right thing to do, in case he has this artistic calling. And you know what he said? “Eh Mommy, I’m bored. Gusto ko na lang, pumasok sa school”, said Nico.

Yay, that’s definitely a kid all bored! He must have been used to the busy routine during weekdays, that the first day of vacation got him really bored. And that must have been a wake up call for me to finally firm up the Little Boy’s activities this summer. We’ve reserved a slot for him in Bert Lozada’s Swimming Lessons in a subdivision across where we live. It’s a plan way ahead summer as a preventive measure for his asthma issues. Problem is, the swimming classes will start 07 April pa, which is about two more weeks from now.

Well, I guess, I have to keep the Little Boy busy with something worth, or else, the “artistic murals” of the Little Boy will be all over the home.

Wahahaha!! Pareho talaga sila ni Adi!! Nung minsan may nag-drawing sa gate. Adi accused Gaby. But when I checked, I saw that inautograph nung artist yung artwork sa gate. The name written was..ADI!! Si Gaby justs draw on paper. She asked for her own masking tape para madikit niya sa mga pader. Nga lang, lahat ngayon may nakadikit. Sa doors, walls, cabinets..loob ng cabinets pati :)

Tip: I kept all the markers. They use crayons and colored pencils na lang. Mas madaling linisin.

hi Thet! unfortunately, the pens weren’t the washable ones. buti na lang at may Mr. Muscle cleaner, natanggal naman yung mga artwork ni lil’ boy. :) eh naku, yung mga house angels took my bilin literally. eh sabi ko daw kasi hayaan mag coloring, kaya ayun, di na daw nila inawat sa pagco-color. hay naku…

hahaha, you said it right Thet. nanghingi na nga ako ng maraming scratch paper sa office para dyan. ;)

hahaha, talagang MFEO ang dalawa! pareho ng mga habits. ;)
LOL on the walls in the home with the dikits. parang pinag mukhang preschool classroom ang bahay nyo mga Little Hezies! at hindi pa pinaligtas ang loob ng cabinet ha!

thanks for the tip on crayons lang. nga naman, pag permanent markers, hirap tanggalin. buti na lang at may Mr. Muscle!

hi Weng! ay naku, sinabi mo. kaya naman, whenever Friday comes, talagang napapa TGIF ako! :) layo pa July, you have three more months to go pa! goodluck Mommy Weng!

ang tagal pa nga ng April 7 kung iisipin, kaya naman, I’ve been thinking what could keep him busy. so I asked him. ang sabi ba naman: “Can I go with you sa office?” Waaahhhh, I was stumped. di ko alam kung isasama ko ba sya. baka kasi yung mga walls naman sa office ang pagdiskitahan.

thanks for the Manila paper tip. heehee, di ko rin maalala tawag dun sa brown paper pero siguro dapat magdikit na din ako sa walls nun.

hala, at si Abby naman, face nya ang napag tripan. heehee, I could imagine gaano karaming lotion or baby oil ang nilagay mo para matanggal. baka gusto lang nyan, bili mo sya make-up kit.

thanks for the tag. punta ako dun. now na!

Hi Feng. Did he use crayons? Baka kaya pa matangal using soap and water.

When Yohan was younger nag write na din sya sa walls pero thankfully di na naulit.

Yohan has been doodling everyday. He prefers using white bond paper. I bought the gray ones (mimeo type) but he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like gray paper daw. Medyo quality paper pa naman yung bond paper sa house. Ayun, paubos na ang 1 ream. At ayaw pa sulatan ang likod. Gusto parating fresh paper. Sabi ko nga, di ba in Sesame Street they recycle paper kaya dapat he should use the back part. Tapos hihirit, “But mom! I want you to display it. You cannot display both front and back.” Haayy! Hahanap nalang ako ng mas murang paper next time. :)

hi Rach! :) naku, sa kasawiang palad, Nico used pentel pens and markers. buti at may Mr. Muscle, natanggal.

hahaha, look at how kids can get naughty ano? favorite talaga nila ang walls. lalo na pag makinis at maputi.

at sosyalin pa Yohan ha. ayaw ng mimeo paper, gusto pa bond paper. eh if he likes drawing, eh talagang mauubusan ka ng supply nyan. and now that summer’s here, I bet you’ll have to look for cheaper bond paper now pa lang.

eh naku, I can sense, mukha na ring preschool class ang house nyo sa ka di display ng drawings ni Yohan. ako, pinagbibigyan ko din, pero minsan, it’s becoming a sore in my eyes. lalo na pag sobrang dami na.
