BLOOD IS THICKER MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE
(This post is for my brother and his wife, who send off their daughter in Pinas for a three-week visit. For your own peace of mind, dudes! Sana kasi, sumama na din kayo pag-uwi! Heehee.)
Blood is thicker than water. Agree? Scientifically speaking, yes it is.
Blood is a specialized bodily fluid (technically a tissue) that is composed of a liquid called blood plasma and blood cells suspended within the plasma. Water on the other hand refers mostly of its liquid form or state, though the substance also has a solid sate, ice, and a gaseous state called water vapor. Wikipedia
And how about treating the phrase figuratively? I have to say, blood is not just thicker than water-it’s thicker more than anything else.
Yesterday, my adorable niece Erika came for a visit at my Mom’s. Erika is the daughter of my youngest brother based in Chicago and her maternal grandmother who is currently in town tagged her along to the Philippines. It was already two long years ago since we last saw Erika (she was only one year old then when she and her Mom took a month-long vacation in the Philippines) and having really missed the little girl for so long, we’re really excited to see her again, especially me. Why? Go ask Michelle, she very well know how much I so loooove my nieces too, much as I love my Nico.
We’ve expected she would treat us as total strangers the moment she sees us though. Sabi nga ni Mommy, “naku, maninibago yun. Siguradong hindi na tayo natatandaan nun”. You know, the usual behavior of kids, most especially the younger ones, who’ll take time to adapt to the environment before she gets use to it. That was our expectation and to which what had happened yesterday.
The moment she was home, the little girl seemed totally knew to everything around her. Tightly clinging from the arms of Ate Eunice, a cousin who accompanied her home, Erika seemed all aloof to everyone, with an excited welcome and hello from her two cousins Chesca and Nico and us regardless. Good thing my brother tipped us before hand that the little girl is fond of choco milk drinks and kikay kits and that’s what the clever Lola Mommy plus Chesca and Nico handed as teasers to please the little girl. And in no time, the reluctant little shy girl felt homely and comfy.
The little girl blended well with her cousins and we’re just as happy seeing them bonding pretty well. And though the Lola Mommy didn’t say a word, we just knew at hand how her heart just melted away the moment she saw her three apos in their innocent squeals of laughter. Even our three-month old baby in the family somewhat knew what’s happening that she was like kicking and giggling with her cousins. What joy! And to think that all of them get to meet rarely. Too bad because Erika had to go after two good hours (hay Bro, kung makita mo lang how she begged to sleep over and stay home, maawa ka sa little girl!), so no matter how sad the parting maybe, the kids had to temporarily bid goodbye to one another, with never ending hugs and kisses and cryings as if they never wanted the rare moment to end.
Sigh. Ang babaw ko ba, Bro? But really and truly, I bet you’d agree with me: Blood is thicker than water, or should I say, blood is thicker more than anything else.
Sobrang na-sad kami. Di bale, at least we get to see the Little adorable girl kahit saglit! At eto Bro, tingnan mo, how big they’ve grown!
From two years ago:

And fast forward to present, here they are na:
While waiting for Erika to arrive, the Lola Mommy and apos played Bingo

Seryoso sa pagpapaya! LOLz
And when Erika arrives, everybody’s giddy and excited to greet her Hello!

Including Little baby KC

But medyo wala pa sa mood, inaaliw ng Lola, sinuhulan ng choco milk

Ayaw mag-smile eh

Hayun, clinging with Ate Eunice.

Medyo at home na yata…

Nangingilala…

Ayan na, aliw na si Erika.

Feeling close na sila!

Ayun na, may pa wave wave na!

This was taken when you Bro, called! Kita mo, ayaw ka na kausapin. Gusto makipag-play sa mga cousins nya.

Play, play, play.

A happy Little Girl at her visit to Lola Mommy’s
(I’ll share with you the rest of the photos Bro. Later! )

I always enjoy visiting your blog because of the great photos you share of your family. Looks like Nico had a wonderful time playing with his cousins. Glad Erika warmed up to everyone in no time.
