DISCIPLINE WITHOUT SPANKING

This is an answer to the parenting tag by Mitch: To Cane or Not to Cane?

***

Whenever I am asked of the question, my quick answer would always be a big NO-NO to spanking. Why? Plan and simple, the truth is—spanking is a form of violence and is never the positive way of disciplining a child.

Unfortunately, I’m speaking on personal experience. :( I confessed that once, I had laid my hands on my son at one time he was at his worst. And after that, ever I felt so guilty and never did it again. I clearly remembered that my emotions were running really high during that time I spanked my son that I became so enraged prompting me to hit my son hardly so as to release my anger. And I regret that I did it because I knew it definitely did not give the kind of respect I wish my son had for me, but instead, it only instilled fear of him in me. Continue Reading »

YAYA NESS TURNS 18

So today’s Valentine’s Day, and I can feel the love everywhere I turn my head to—may it be online and offline. Heehee, kakakilig! At home though, we’re kinda occupied with at least two monumental occasions and one lost and (hopefully, fingers crossed) found story. The other one, I’ll perhaps journal in this diary at another time, while the first one is this post.

She was just 15 when she came to us, surprisingly young and doubted to be incapacitated to take the responsibility of looking after our son while we are at work. But within a month’s time, she proved her self worth and earned our trust by showering our Little Boy with all her pure love and sincerest caring, to which we are very much appreciative of.

The pleasant and not-so pleasant situations, perhaps, we’ve been through it all and though I used to tag her as our soulmate nanny, never did I expect she’d stay with us this long. But here we are, so very grateful because up to this day—exactly the day of Hearts, she turns 18 (yes, ka Birthday po nya si Ms. Kris Aquino, so I guess that explains her indescribable personality). A BIGGER PICTURE OF LOVE

Caution: A mushy post this is! :)

How true it is that as you get older (and wiser), you’d view things on a different light. Rich experiences as one ages and go through life’s journeys perhaps must have contributed so much for that change in perspective.

It’ll be Valentines Day on Thursday and as expected, many couples out there are definitely going to “paint the town red”. Our girls here at home, Rizza and Ness, are no exception. In fact, as early as last week, they’ve requested for a few hours-off on Thursday as the two will be going out on dates with their BFs. :) Both are on the verge of enjoying their young teenage years and perhaps, and that explains why these girls really look forward to experiencing those flutter-licous feelings on V-day. You know, the usual fun rush of feeling of Valentine that comes with flowers, chocolates, mushy text messages and dates—which I believe quite is understandable. Continue Reading »

THOUGH YOU’VE GROWN

Nope, it’s not Nico’s Birthday, yet, I’m feeling nostalgic seeing my Little Boy’s latest photos. Sigh. Where did time go? He has really grown. :( A poem by Cynthia A. Sieving Though You’ve Grown, to somehow relieve that mushy sentimental feeling. Continue Reading »

MY BLOG READS AND THE THING CALLED LINKY LOVE

It’ll be Valentine’s Day in a few days and guess what? I’ve created a page in this Blog with all the Linky Love. ;)

There’s nothing new to that alright. No big deal neither because majority of Blogs I read have their own Linky Loves, actually. But what keeps me excited in creating the page was that some of the links there reveals the Blogs I read, but the owners don’t know I’m reading. Heehee. Continue Reading »
