I’ve been encountering posts about the Blogging Tips Meme that’s been circulating around Blogsphere for some time now. And though I’m not tagged to do the Meme, I find it interesting to read through the different perspectives on Blogging from a diverse chain of Bloggers and see what Blogging tips or advices could be useful for me.
Then the Meme reached me when Kelly tagged me here to share a blogging tip. And geez, looking at the long list of Blogging tips, I can’t help but scratch my head and ask myself: “Gee, most of the tips are already listed. What else can I share?” And taking note that the rule says: “try to make your tip general” makes it all more difficult (well, at least for me) to think of a quite sensible advice. Continue Reading »

I used to think that the month of December was the most popular month for weddings in the Philippines until I followed a news article at Manila Standard online edition, a link I got from Weddings At Work, showing that it is during the month of May that most Pinoy weddings are held, backed up by figures from the National Statistics Office. The month of December ranked only second in the NSO figure, which further analyzed that the month of May, being the season of flowers and festivals and fiestas, was a major factor that influenced the choice of couples to marry. “Riding on the ‘fiesta’ occasion may be one of the factors that influenced the choice of couples to marry during this month,” the news report said.
But then this figure from NSO was culled four years ago, so I thought that maybe, the figure changes every year. You know why I thought of that? Well, as early as October, we’ve received nine wedding invitations already! And all are set to marry next month—December. Of course, we’re very happy to receive the news that friends, former classmates and family acquaintances are getting married. In fact, Hubby and I are giddy and excited to think of gifts to give for each of the nine couples. Most of them have bridal registries in several Department Stores anyway, so choosing a gift won’t be too much of a problem. This early too, we’re already looking for clothes to wear to fit in their motifs/themes. But… Continue Reading »

In physics, it is a fact that a positively charged object will likely attract a negatively charged object. It’s called the principle of charge interaction, which theorized that oppositely charged objects will exert an attractive influence upon each other while two objects which are of like charge will repel each other.
How true is that in human relationships cannot be absolutely told as certain studies showed varying results. Case in point is Ness and Riza, our kasambahays, which have opposing personality traits and characteristics, but continue to show one another with surprising gestures of sisterly concern. Warning: Sorta, kinda mushy post ahead and it’s not even Valentines Day yet! Yay!
Have I mentioned that I am going on dates with a delivery boy every Wednesday? If not yet, then let me just note of that very rare occurrence (parang phenonomenon pa talaga eh noh?) in my married life before the opportunity to have more dates ends. And opps, before you make judgment that I am doing an immoral thing, let me just make it clear that the delivery boy was Hubby—nothing more, nothing less. Why was called a delivery boy and how come we date on Wednesdays? Allow me to explain. Continue Reading »

Centuries ago, (LOL) I was tagged by Mitch to show what’s inside my wallet, so here’s a peak.
A wallet, according to Wikipedia, is a small flat case used to carry personal items such as cash, credit cards and driver’s licenses for frequent quick access.
This definition holds true to me (except for the cash, nyahaha!). My wallet, a jologs one which I bought in a tiangge somewhere in Ortigas Extension, contains nothing much but IDs and some more cards I often use. My wallet used to hold about six credit cards I owned before. But I was not good in managing the use of these cards (almost the same reasons as what Liza shared over at Pinoy Mom’s Network), so after paying them all, I just maintained one low-limit credit card which was just right for our weekly grocerying and super emergency purchases. Nico has been suffering from cough and colds since last week. A common suspect to blame was the ever changing weather. Nico’s classmates in school were wearing cough and colds when the classes resumed last week so I think that also adds to my worry that he caught the virus there. If I recall it right, his cough and colds now adds to the countless times that Nico got sick (if not cold, cough, tonsillitis, and stomach infection being the worst) since my little boy started going to preschool last June. It was a depressing thought that no matter how much we try to protect our son from harmful elements (like providing a healthy environment at home), unavoidable places such as the school was often the culprit why Nico was sickly since he started going to school.
Good thing Nico’s immune system, I noticed, is becoming more stable now. At three years old and schooling at that, he gets sick, yes, but also recovers faster, even without giving him medicines to take. A good rest and a simple water therapy matched with some herbal meds often helped and just in one or two days, a cough or a cold is gone. The last time I reviewed Nico’s medical record book, I noticed we haven’t had much trips to the pediatrician for months, except for that notable rushes to the Hospital due to a stomach flu in July and the tooth infection in August. Cough and colds and tonsillitis are three common upper respiratory diseases Nico often experience (thanks to Nico’s classmates), so every time he is suffering from one, we knew what it is and how to treat them, thus, we resorted not to consult a doctor anymore. Anticipating a crowd and long queue of ill patients (which can be a source of more diseases) in the Clinic or Hospital, going to the doctor was a tiring ordeal, with an irritated sickly child in tow. BabyCenter and relentless exchange of calls and text messages to my Mom (who was a nurse) were often my most valuable resource. Continue Reading »

Feng on Nov 5th 2007 About Some Family Matters
For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
True enough, nothing could be more painful than losing someone so dear. I’ve experienced the depressing feeling myself after the loss of my dear Dad in June of 2006. It was something that happened so unexpected and so very sudden that denial stayed within me for too long that I was overly devastated. I know that the right thing to do was to move on and cope each and everyday without him. But then there were just times that I couldn’t help but grieve and cry alone, especially at moments when silence, depression, and tiredness set my heart and mind yearning. My grieving was too much that the many months that passed have been particularly filled with longing for Dad. It was those times I wept, I mourned, I grieved. I thought there was no way to recover.
