IF YOU ARE NICE, YOU ARE LOVED :)

If you are nice, you are loved.

This logic was what exactly came to mind soon as I saw my name in the list of recipients for the Nice Matters and I Love Your Blog Awards.

The Nice Matters Award came from Mitch while the I Love Your Blog Awards were handed over by Mitch (again) and Nice. Continue Reading »

TO DEAR HUBBY, ON YOUR BDAY :)

It’s been weeks since 05 September (Hubby’s 34th Birthday) has passed and definitely too late for a greeting. But as the saying goes: “better late than never”, so I’ve prepared a candid greeting for him just as to put in record that I did greeted him anyway. Nyahaha. Days has been quite busy that I (read: unintentionally) forgot to think/get something special for him so I’m making up via the candid poem below. Despite forgetfulness, Hubby said he still loves me to death anyway, so…

CHOOSING BETWEEN FAMILY VS. WORK? OR HAVING THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

No book has yet been written in praise of a woman who let her husband and children starve or suffer while she invented even the most useful things, or wrote books, or expressed herself in art, or evolved philosophic systems.

Anna Garlin Spencer, Woman’s Share in Social Culture, 1912

How many times shall I ponder so deep on the quote above and say unto myself that I shouldn’t feel so guilty for having to juggle both motherhood and career?

Over the last few weeks, despite being so occupied with both family and work-related concerns, still, there was enough space to seriously weigh and weigh options and its pros and cons and decide on a pressing concern that has been bothering me for months—choosing between family and work.

The longing of being a stay-at-home Mom, God knows it was a long time dream. And when the dream finally came into reality, in an instance I least expect it to happen, there I realized it was not really the dream I exactly dreamt of. Even as I forced myself to go blind, I see the need to be honest to myself for I know in my heart where I am truly happy. And true enough, I’ve came with a decision by choosing not either one of them—but by embracing and loving them both. Continue Reading »

BLESSED DAY ON A RAINY DAY

[Written on 19 Sept. 2007, but was only uploaded/published 21 Sept thus, Post Timestamp was edited] :)

At last, I found a me-time for myself today to write down a few thoughts! Last week was a very hectic one for me going through around two different seminar-workshops (the first being a two-day seminar on the new Project Management System and the second, a three-day seminar on Statistical Analysis of Data) that I wasn’t even able to glance what’s happening in my own little world of Blogsphere.

Nothing so profound, no particular direction with this entry–just randomness and a free flowing of insights as I thought of them in my head. Thanks to the heavy downpour this morning, I decided not to go the Office today and just do my work deliverables till Friday right here at the comfort of our home. Plain laziness as one may call it, but seeing the breaking news on TV at lunchtime, I am just as thankful that I didn’t brave the rains at all as hundreds of commuters were stranded along the routes where I usually pass. Hehe. Must be my lucky day today huh? Continue Reading »

THE PROPER SYMBOL OF THE SMALL LETTER A

Once upon a time, there was a Mom. A loving, but a very forgetful Mom. She has a handsome three-year old son who started going to preschool. Nursery level to be exact. Despite advices from families and friends to delay the child’s schooling, the Mom (in connivance with the Dad) still insisted to have the handsome little boy attend school. They said that anyway, the handsome three-year old boy has been showing signs of readiness, so heck they enrolled him right away.

During the first few weeks of the handsome little boy’s schooling, everything were all manageable. The Mom (and sometimes the Dad) are able to help the best they can with the handsome little boy’s assignments. Drawing of a fruit, a boy, parts of the body, every little details of the boy’s assignments, they willfully did it.

But as the school days went by, requirements from the handsome little boy’s school homework became more and more demanding and more and more difficult. At one time, the handsome little school boy asked his Mom to help him with his Writing subject assignment: to print the font in the computer that uses the proper symbol of the small letter A. An A that should have been commonly used in word processing in computers, but unfortunately, it became an A that was not. “Well, that’s easy?” the Mom said with all smiles and calmness. She tried Arial, but it’s not. Times New Roman, not again. Trebuchet, her favorite font, but not again. “Aha, must be Franklin Gothic”, but she’s wrong again. She’s been trying for hours, turning over her head in the PC researching what font in the computer uses the proper symbol of the small letter A. Continue Reading »

SOMETHING POTTED IN TAGAYTAY, THE BAHAY KUBO, AND TOM’S WORLD

It’s definitely not the first Monday of the month anymore and that should have meant I’m too late to submit an entry for the Fun Photo Find Activity of the Pinoy Moms Network called PMN FamPics. Sad me. And poor me because since this Photo Hunters-inspired photo scavenging activity was announced at the PMN site, I was one of those Mommy members who was all giddy and ever-excited to participate. But there I go again with my amnesia (and I always have the emergency Caesarian Section birth three++ years ago as an excuse) that I entirely forgot to photo hunt for SOMETHING POTTED–the PMN FamPic’s theme for September.

So then I said to myself: “Oh well, that’s life. I’ll just make sure to prepare my entry for next month’s theme and that I’ll just enjoy the following day hopping through the entries of Mommies who were able to participate in this month’s theme”. But wait till I checked into the PMN site this morning, Connie just announced the extension for the submission of entries until tomorrow, Wednesday, 05 September. And yey, I was jumping in joy upon reading it, saying to myself “Yipee, it’s never too late to photo hunt for SOMETHING POTTED”. So here goes my entry. Continue Reading »

AWARDS FROM BLOGGER FRIENDS AND A COMPROMISE OFFER AT WORK THAT BROUGHT CONFUSION ON MY SAHMING

A long time ago (LOL), Julie and Mitch awarded me with the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award and honestly, I am very much flattered. The exciting feeling haven’t totally sunk into my nerves yet when a few weeks ago, Connie, the legendary icon in the Pinoy Blogworld and one of a few of my idols in the Blogsphere of course, handed me too with the Thinking Blog Award. And their reasons are almost one and the same:

Teacher Julie said: Feng Guillermo-Brum of From Dusk till Dawn. Feng, you truly rock! Leaving your corporate office to be a stay-at-home-mom is no mean feat. Being a mother who religiously follow-through the development of your son, I salute you. You rock, girl!

Mitch said: Feng of From Dawn Till Dusk - She deserves this award for the recent decision she just made - on being a SAHM.

And Connie said: I now pass the tag to … … Feng (a brand new SAHM) …. whom I feel deserve the Thinking Blog Award as well …

My, what more can I say? The feeling is just so overwhelming that I just wanted to write a few thoughts to express my sincerest appreciation. Having an on and off connection with the Blogsphere and with Blog friends lately, it just feels great knowing that people appreciates and continue to cheer me on as I adjust through my recent domesticity.

But do I really deserve the awards one hundred percent? I owe everyone an explanation. Continue Reading »
