GLOSSY PLASTIC COVERS AND A MOTHER’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: MY FIRST ENTRY FOR THE PMN FAM PICS

And yes, we’re definitely ready to show off our first entry to the Fun Photo Find Activity of the Pinoy Moms Network dubbed “PMN Fam Pics”.
Inspired by Photo Hunters, PMN Fam Pic is a fun Photo Find Activity where Mommy Members of the PMN can participate by posting a photo entry related to home or family taking on a Monthly Theme. The theme for the month is GLOSSY.
Honestly, I had a hard time digging photos that best suits the theme simply because when I thought of the word, the first that came into mind was that of a lip gloss. If my child happened to be a girl, compliance to the theme would have been much easier as I can readily convince my child to pose for a photo or two in a mirror wearing some lip gloss. But of course, my child is definitely a BOY and oh my, even if I can prod him to pose for a photo holding the girly thing, Nico would curse me to death if he gets to read this online journal when he grows up. Nyahaha.
Thus, a lot of pondering took place in my head for weeks (would you imagine that?) just thinking of a better photo that best depicts the theme- - - something GLOSSY.
So here goes our entry for the first Photo Find Activity for Mommy members of the Pinoy Moms Network:

That’s a photo of me covering my three-year old son’s notebooks and books in school with GLOSSY plastic covers. Though it’s not really a requirement in school, it helps when books and notebooks are covered with GLOSSY plastic covers. With a preschooler still unconscious on how to take good care of his things in school, it made a big difference when books and notebooks are well protected with GLOSSY plastic covers as they remain free from scratches and scribbling of crayons and pencils.
The very nature of covering my son’s books with GLOSSY plastic covers was sort of a refresher activity for me already as I haven’t done this school thing for more than a decade now. And oh my, I tell you, I had a hard time covering the books and notebooks as I needed to pause for a while and recall how I did it when I was still schooling.

Well, the end results weren’t that bad at all, though I know more polishing is still needed to master this old-forgotten skill.
And yes, the GLOSSY plastic covers would only do so much to have Nico’s books and notebooks to still be in good condition towards the end of the school year (which is so many more months away still from now, so wish us luck!). But the paper pages of notebooks and books (which I’ve seen some already torn and gusot-gusot) are another story.
Oh well, that’s the very least a mother can do for a son.
As he journeys through life and spread his wings, must I say that the Mommy-Heart in Me, like those GLOSSY plastic covers, will just be there to give unconditional love, unwavering guidance and tireless protection in any way I can.

take a closer look dun sa subject: REMINDER… hehe, when I saw the instructions of the school on how to label the notebooks, sabi ko: May subject bang REMINDER? eh yun naman pala, it contains the notes and reminders of the Teachers.
Hi Feng! The lip gloss idea is cute! But then yes, cannot be for Nico. The notebook cover is a good replacement. Ganyan din ako mag-cover ng notebooks. I want it really smooth. I get OC w/ plastic covers.
OC with plastic covers? ey pareho tayo, after I’ve covered the books and notebooks, dinaganan ko pa nga yan ng mga heavy things para mag flat yung plastic covers. LOL.
Haha! Oo nga no! Di ko napansin yung REMINDER.
I love covering notebooks lalo na kung tinatahi. Tapos kelangan may color pa yung cover bago plastic.
stitching notebooks na may springs? ang sipag mo. hindi ako masyadong nagtahi noon. medyo nagagalit Mom ko nun sa akin pag may spring notebook na pinapabili ko kasi aksaya daw dahil itatapon lang yung spring after covering the notebook with a wrapper and plastic cover tapos yarn for stitching.
i was an expert in that field when i was still a student, pati notebooks ng mga kapatid ko, kinokontrata ko hehehe..

Those plastic covers reminded me of the days when my mom and older sister did the same thing.
Pareho tayong kalewete.
i remember doing those things every start of school year — i wonder if i would need to do that here in germany, huh? plastic coverings are really glossy!

I remember those days when I used to cover my books and notebooks as well with plastic covers. What a fun activity. Great choice for the photo hunt.
this is so appropriate for Back-to-school here in the US
Hi Feng. Thanks for sharing your glossy entry. It’s a good interpretation for this month’s theme.
When I was a child, I would watch my mom meticously cover my notebooks and textbooks. She eventually taught me how to cover my own things when I was in high school. Now it’s my turn to cover my son’s books.
Hi Feng!
blog hoppin neat blog and i enjoyed my visit. check mines too if u have time. TC
hello there… sobrang late ako sa bloghopping ko, natatakot na kong pumunta sa PMN as I’ve been very remiss in the activities.
Natawa ko sa “lip gloss” mo dahil si Kelvin ko gustong-gusto na nagli-lipbalm just because nakikita nya sa akin. So when I started using lip gloss this summer ayan panay habol sa red lip gloss ko. Worse, he likes playing with my make-up kit & demonstrates how to use the eyelash curler!
