THE FACE BEHIND THIS BLOG

Different photos of my face as well as my Personal Profiles in certain Blogs and social/community sites are scattered all over my little spaces in cyberspace. So need I say/post more?

  • As a Mom and member of the Pinoy Moms Network, my About Me page can be viewed here.
  • As a Friend, the My Profile page is here. You can add me if you want and I’ll add you back.
  • Through the Memes and Tags in the Me and the Blog Thing category of this Blog, you’ll know more about me too.
  • And if you explore the About Me and This Blog page of this online journal (which I haven’t updated as I am now SAHM), you’ll still see that darn same sepia photo of me.

So would that suffice enough? Nah, I’m just kidding. Actually, the purpose of this tag is to get to know MORE of the person (and her face) who writes for this Blog so better that I stop my excuses and start writing down more About Me. Here goes: Continue Reading »

MORE WEIRD THINGS ABOUT ME

Thanks Cookie, you gave me a big headache thinking of those weird things! And my, it was hard enumerating ha. And like you, I’ve already done this Meme before so I just added some nine more to the previous six I listed here.

Whew. Now, I’m beginning to believe it myself that I am a weirdo indeed. Hehe, here goes:

  1. When everyone else in this world is so addicted, super head over heals, and hooked to Harry Potter (may it be anticipating the latest release of the new book or the showing of the latest movie), it never appealed to me. My friends often say that for HP to appeal to you, you have to start with the book then it’ll eventually lead you to watching the movie (to test if indeed the scenes are faithful to the book). Would you consider me as weird on that note? Or am I just “the isolated one”?
  2. When I buy clothes (particularly Tees and blouses) and get to like its style/cut, I buy about three color variations. Sometimes, if I really can’t help it and my budget can afford it, I buy all the colors available. Examples of these are the Spandex huggable shirts and Meg blouses available at Greenhills Shopping Center. Could that be called weird? Or am I just a sucker for a particular clothe style? FACTUAL FACTS ABOUT MY MOM

When I learned I was tagged for this Meme, I knew there so many real life facts that I can list down about my Mom. I knew my Mom by heart and even though we don’t have a perfect relationship, I love her to death. More than just being a Mom, she’s my friend, my sister, and most importantly, she’s my best/worst critic.

So here goes, 10 Factual Facts About my Dearest Mom. (I hope my Tita/Ninang Norma doesn’t get to read this. Or else, even at miles away, she’ll find a way to tell my Mom and Mom will kill me for these!)

  1. She has a very odd maiden name. And it was only through this Meme that I realized her name was in exact order (in terms of number of letters from the first name, middle name and last name). First name: FE (di ba parang chemical symbol); Middle Name: TIRATIRA (oh di ba, para naman ito yung sugar caramel candy na tig 10 cents way back in the 80s); and Last Name: SAN BUENAVENTURA (eto naman, sounds strange din because most surnames I know Buenaventura lang and no San attached to it). CATCHING UP ANOTHER ROUND OF VIRUSES

And so after suffering from a stomach infection last week, I caught several viruses again. Truth is, it was not only me who was victimized, but likewise, the large group of Mommies in the Pinoy Moms Network too.

But ooopps, before you get so alarmed. It’s not the virus that we often think can be combated through antibiotics or certain medicines. Nope. Rather, I’m referring to these latest sets of fun and enjoyable Memes propagating and mutating around the colorful world of Blogsphere, particularly, that of with Filipina Moms.

Hehe, I was inspired to call it a virus as the curious lil’o me, got to read about the many definitions of Memes online (thanks again Google, you cleared my mind). This reliable site enumerated a number of definitions of Memes, namely: Continue Reading »

A PRESCHOOLER’S LACK OF INTEREST TO WRITE AND A MOM’S PARANOIA

On the heels of Nico suffering from a stomach flu, Jun and I still managed to attend the first Parents and Teachers’ Meeting at Nico’s school last Saturday. Jun was hesitant at first in attending the meeting mainly because Nico’s not feeling so well. But I still insisted that we go as the meeting is expected to last for an hour or two and anyway, the school is just within the subdivision where we reside, so leaving Nico with the new kasambahay for a while would not be much of a problem.

I really insisted that we attend because I wanted to consult the Preschool Coordinator as well as Nico’s Teacher regarding some school concerns that I’d like to be enlightened, particularly about the progress of Nico as far as writing skills are concerned.

I am not sure if this is another stage Mommy’s paranoia but, you see, I am very concerned over at how Nico lazily behaves whenever I asked him to write on his workbooks all by himself. Say for example, a certain exercise in Math that requires him to encircle all the objects that are colored blue. He can identify right away where the blue-colored objects are, but when asked to encircle them, he just won’t and would instead grab my hand and prod me to hold the pencil together with him to write on the exercise worksheet. DEALING WITH STOMACH FLU ON A WEEKEND

It started Friday. I was in the Office finishing some more tasks related to the turnover of my workloads to colleagues in the workplace, when I received an alarming call from our new kasamabahay informing me of Nico’s repeated vomiting the whole morning. Guilty that I was leaving him for hours five days straight through my remaining turnover days at work, I immediately rushed home to give comfort to my son and observe what had caused the vomiting. I sensed though it definitely had something to do with a spoiled food or drink that he took in school.

Apparently, everything went fine when I got home that Nico didn’t threw up at all nor exhibited signs of doing like it. And just to make sure all the food that he’ll be taking would not trigger diarrhea or something else, I prepared a soft-diet, less-greasy dinner (Sinigang na Bangus and rice) for him and thankfully he had ample appetite and finished it. We even managed to play for an hour or two, finished his school assignments, and had a goodnight sleep despite his being worn-out and wearing a slight fever. Continue Reading »

A TALE OF TWO KASAMBAHAYS (THE EX AND THE NEW)

It’s been almost three weeks since we terminated the services of Ness as Nico’s Yaya, but the after effects of her drastic demise in the house are still being felt up to now. Maybe it’s because we didn’t exert much effort to give a peaceful closure before she left the house.

But can she blame us? Time and again, we proved her acts of dishonestly and neglect for work through confirmations from our latest landline phone bill (which has numerous cellphone call charges aside from those that I discovered) and feedbacks from neighbors with whom Ness has outstanding debts due to habitual purchases of ukay clothes. And what’s worst, she left us hanging in the air that she didn’t bother contacting us of her whereabouts four days after her off from work. And take note, we called her so many times through the cellphone that we lent her but she kept on dropping our calls and not replying to our text messages.

And so without further hesitations, we decided to call it quits because we felt so fed up already with so much of her excuses. Fresh from a small gathering of families and relatives to remember my Dad’s first death anniversary, the first thing I did upon arriving home was to pack her things and keep them in a corner for her to pick up to a day I don’t know and didn’t have any hint when. Until Thursday (28 June) came that while Nico’s having his long afternoon nap, I heard her knocking at our doorsteps begging to explain her self and asking for another chance. I didn’t bother letting her inside the house to hear her explanations anymore. To me, that’s too much of her asking. Instead, I placed her things outside the house, demanded her to return the cellphone that we lent her (thankfully, she gave it back), and asked her to leave. Continue Reading »
