WHEN GOD CLOSES A DOOR…

He always opens so many windows.
But we often look so long and so regretfully upon the
closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.

I am so guilty for feeling so down lately, so now, I am counting my littlest of blessing from Above…

Daddy Domeng is on his way to recovery
Time and again, we proved it in the family that prayers can indeed move mountains. While the other day we were in the dire end of loosing hope that FIL’s health will get better, God showered upon us that He will take care of everything for as long as we believe and have faith.

As of today, Daddy Domeng is on his way to recovery. His attending physicians said the increase in appetite that my FIL has shown in a couple of days is a good sign that he will get well very very soon. He’s been taking his medicines now religiously with him having the alarm clock of his mobile phone set on the time for taking the meds. And compared with the other day where he’d rather stay and in bed all day than take the risk of having several sets of tests to diagnose the complications his sickness has brought him, we were surprise as how Daddy Domeng willingly submitted himself for testing even if it took hours of fasting for the blood chem. and taking a bitter-tasting medicine before undergoing an X-ray and an ultrasound. And though his doctors said his respiratory disease is in the advanced stage, they singled out a theory that it’s too late to cure the disease and that Daddy Domeng will get well for as long as he continues with his medication and therapy.

And who would not be encouraged to recover faster when you’ve got a loving family who supports you all the way, all throughout a trying time in a dear father’s life. His concerned daughters and sons and their children were taking turns in looking after Daddy Domeng in the hospital, helping him out going to and from the bathroom, holding on with a lot of patience still for a dear father who consistently insists feeding a patient who refuses to eat and take meds for the last two weeks, and washing him up so as he remains tidy and neat even in the middle of sickness. Funny side of the story was when Daddy Domeng commented it was the first time ever in his life that his growing beard and mustache gets to be shaved with the help a professional razor and some shaving cream that Jun bought for Daddy Domeng yesterday. After boarding for almost three weeks in the Hospital, Daddy Domeng will be discharged today, or tomorrow morning, the latest.

And so to everyone-our families and friends and relatives, and even some Friendster Friends and Blog friends who have taken time to even email me privately for comforting words, thank you all so much for your offer of prayers from the bottom of our hearts. And our special thanks to FIL’s attending physicians at the UST Hospital most especially to Jun’s Rotary friends’ Drs. Jess Perez and Ronnie Asuncion for all the help you’ve extended towards the admission, confinement and treatment of my FIL. Salamat po ng marami.

Growing opportunities for our little business
Another nick of good news: as of our simulation of expenses vs. income of our little business today, 31 May 2007, we’re happy to note that we’ll be fully paid with our big big loan with FIL by August, making the anticipated collections in September solely as net income for our little biz. Jun was also able to seal delivery/distribution services for three more publications, bringing our current deliveries to six for the daily deliveries and seven for the weekly deliveries to all drop-off points and Metro Manila outlets of 711, Ministop, National Bookstore, Filbars and Magnet. At last, endless meetings even on the holiest hours of the night with member-publications of CMAP had paid off!

And the best part of all these positive developments is a reinforcement our plan to retire early from the corporate world (gee, I didn’t realize we were that old already). Jun is planning to avail of an early retirement probably at the end of the year while I am giving myself five years more to meet the minimum years of service for early retirement, which is 15 years. At this point our lives, it just feels so guilty we have to work (as in kayod to the max) to earn for a decent living, unconsciously making our son as second to our priorities (though we always say and think that he’s the first of our priorities).

It was only then that we dreamed of having a little business to grow to prepare us for retirement, and now, everything is falling into place this early. Thank Heavens for such blessings!

Buti naman at ok na ang Daddy ni Jun. When I read about your FIL’s sickness, napaisip ako kung ano na ang nangyari. I emailed you but it seems you were busy because you didn’t reply. Assume ko na lang you were with Jun in the Hospital. It’s amazing how your in-laws love their Dad. If that happens to me also, pipilitin kong gumaling for them.

I’m also happy that your dream business finally came true. At 30, you’ve already gone a long way Feng. Bilib ako sa perseverance ninyong mag-asawa.

By the way, where are you now?

mare, buti at inabutan mo pa ako. i’m still here in the office but will proceed to the hospital later, we’re just awaiting for some papers of FIL and he’ll be discharged na today. naku, my many thanks for your concern. sorry for not replying in the email. we’ve been occupied lately looking after FIL in the Hospital. FIL is OK now. he’s got better appetite now, irritated lang ang throat nya for the last two weeks that’s why he’s been throwing up so bad. but doctors said he’s on the way to recovery basta the meds will be taken religiously.

re: the business, we still got a long way to go before we can finally say that its stable na but with the developments now, awa ng Diyos, we’ve heard good feedbacks from our clients. and other publications are signifying their intention to outsource their delivery services with us na din, soon. hay, sana nga. we hope everything turns out for the best. ang hirap din talaga kasi ng forever nangangamuhan, nakakapagod. at least with the business around, we can retire early especially now that Nico’s going to school na. at least, I can fully focus on raising him and if ever, his baby sister/brother.

Kayang kaya nyo yan believe me. Why don’t you attend seminars at PTTC. They have many SME courses there for business start-ups.

Teka what did you mean by the baby? Pregnant ka na ba ulit Mare?

  4. feng on 31.05.2007 at 11:48 (Reply)

hehe, mare, i’m not pregnant, not yet. but it’s in the works.

nag-inquire na yata si Jun about pricing and costing. inaasar nga ako eh, naturingan daw attached agency namin ang PTTC eh, wala daw akong alam sa mga skeds ng training.
