BACK TO REALITY (WITH MUCH VIGOR, OF COURSE!)

We’re back from an almost week-long vacation and I can say that this vacation of ours must have been the most satisfying in so far as enjoyment and quality time for the family is concerned. It was satisfying in a sense that the vacation days, which lasted up to six days, where but just right for the activities we intentionally lined-up to include a general cleaning of the home, an exclusive relaxation in Subic (a separate post to follow, my digicam need be repaired as it was so abused) and most importantly, being able to have accomplished our personal calls for meaningful reflections.

Perhaps the added holiday, which was 09 April, Araw ng Kagitingan, made a lot of difference in the usual vacations that we had in so far as mine and Jun’s lives in the corporate world are concerned. Unlike the past vacations which were sort of bitin (you know, the feeling of lazily waking up the following day to force myself to work), this extended vacation day even allowed us to organize a lot of stuff at home that we left pending and some more relaxation and bonding time with our home, which we missed so much for the five longest days.

So tomorrow, I’m pretty sure all of us in the family are set to face reality again—Jun and me in the corporate world, and Nico in his playful, colorful world—with much energy and vigor and inspiration!

SEVEN SONGS FROM THE HEART: MY VERY FIRST TAG

What do you know, I got to do my very first tag in my entire Blogging life and it’s from a co-Mommy in Pinoy Moms Network–Salen a.k.a. Sassy Mom of Moms Around the Corner.

Sassy Mom, my apologies for responding a bit late. It was only now that I had a chance to type in a few entries because the whole day of yesterday and today, my Little Boss wouldn’t permit me. Nico was sitting at my lap the whole time I am in front of the computer. :)
Anyway, as to the seven songs I am currently listening to, they are: Continue Reading »

ON CHILDCARE MYTHS AND FALLACIES

Much as I want to understand and keep an open my mind in some old beliefs on childcare, never was I ever been convinced that some unexplainable witchcraft could have caused Nico’s consequent vomiting this morning. Sad to say, I was at work when this untoward incident happened to my poor baby. Gee, it made me so worried and panicking as soon as I received a phone call from Jun (who was about to go to work at that time, but thank God he was still home when the incident happened), alerting me that Nico unexplainably threw up the milk and the Champorado that I prepared for him this morning.

Before I even reasoned what could have caused Nico’s gagging (because I was thinking that nabigla ang tiyan ni Nico sa short intervals ng pag-inom ng milk then to eating Champorado for breakfast), Jun reassured me though that there’s no need for me to worry as he has already remedy the situation. “What did you do then?” I asked. “Wag ka na mag-alala, kinontra ko na yung bales/usog ni Nico”, he said, then elaborating that he boiled the pajama and T-shirt that the poor baby wore before the incident happened. According to Jun, Nico was nausog/nabales daw by our oldie neighbor Aling Sol, whom he said was “malakas ang usog” and that the outright solution was to counter the usog. Continue Reading »

BLOG OF THE MINUTE

I’m not so sure if I am the only one seeing this on my screen, but may I just document it here that my personal online journal was Wordpress’ Blog of the Minute yesterday, 02 April 2007, around 10:43 AM.

Can’t let the minute pass me by so I copy-pasted a screen shot of this random event in Wordpress. :)

NICO’S ‘BIDA ANG SAYA’ BDAY PARTY

040107-102_1.jpgYesterday was Nico’s 3rd Birthday Party and really, we had a blast! The party took place at where else, duon kung saan bida ang bata—sa Jollibee! Actually, we didn’t really plan to hold a party na because we have earlier booked an almost week-long out-of-town trip at Ocean Adventure / Camayan Beach Resort in Subic since Nico’s birthday fell on the Lent Season. But due to Nico’s insistent demand (and in his fondness of Jollibee), we have no other choice to but gave in to holding a small party for him.

I had hesitations some weeks ago before finally booking in for a Jollibee party mainly because with the many Jollibee kiddie parties we’ve attended, it now makes it more predictable on what to anticipate in a Jollibee party. I have nothing against Jollibee-conducted parties. It’s just that maybe, I find their party programs are somewhat standardized, meaning, if one had attended a Jollibee party, he/she is expected to see the same program format (games, Jollibee dance numbers etc.) in the future Jollibee parties he/she will attend. But the very reason that my Nico was the one encouraging me and his Dada to hold a Jollibee party for him, we knew we had to set aside our own reasons. The fact that I was a witness as to my son’s enjoyment and happiness in Jollibee-held parties, it should definitely served as concrete proof that there’s no amount of money can ever replace a child’s happiness. A LETTER FOR A SON ON HIS 3RD BIRTHDAY

Dear Son,

It’s the first day of April. And what can I say? You’re a certified 3-year old now and all grown-up!

It’s been 3 years since that one faithful day and memories of that are still fresh in my mind. I can very well remember your first cries as you depend on me for milk, your wiggling and kicking as a way to call our attention for you be washed up as you get irritated when you are wet or soiled, and your cute coos as you get amazed with just a simple colorful mobile rotating in music atop of you.

But look at you now. You’re all grown up. You can independently feed your self now, you can pee at your own and say your finished doing your poop and needs to be washed up, and you very well express yourself now in words and laughter and grin as you feel happy or sad on something.
