PROCRASTINATION AT WORK

cartoon from www.weblogcartoons.com

The weblog cartoon (courtesy of Dave Walker of the We Blog Cartoons) above best describes my working attitude right now. I’m procrastinating again!  It’s 12:43 NN in my PC’s clock and though it’s still lunchbreak, my working conciense tells me I have to buckle down and work seriously to be able to accomplish so many pending tasks I need to do:

  • the Office’ First Quarter Accomplishment Report to incorporate a comprehensive narration on the media mileagae/advertising equivalencies of Office-issued news and photo releases (which was already due last Friday, but I promised to submit with the Planning Officer on Friday, 20 April).
  • revisions in the Budgetary Requirements of the Media Relations Committee for the upcoming 39th ASEAN Economic Ministers and Related Meetings to include the souvenir photo frames and albums, and the specifications and pricing of the DSLR and various lenses that the Office hopefully would be allowed to purchase.
  • identify/ list down the Office’ issues and concerns re: funds utilization for the upcoming FMS First Consultative Meeting on 25 April.
  • the last of the three draft news releases sent by a Bureau for additional inputs, editing and editorial-styling.
  • and some personnel requirements that our General Admin wooed that I submit such as my SAL (Statement of Assets and Liabilities)–which I always forgot to have Hubby sign the space provided for him; and a Medical Certification from our Company Physician as a requirement for the Cash Bond since I will be the Special Disbursing Officer in lieu of the retirement of one of the Office’ associates.

These loads of work may very well be accomplished within set targets. That is, if only I will start buckling down to work. However, the more that I think of them, the more I feel lazy beginning to do a single task. I am always tempted to do non-work related tasks and relentlessly stucking myself browsing the world wide web. Just like right now, I’m blogging again. For the nth time, I am asking myself again, “How lazy can you get Feng? The webcartoon above is kinda cool, but be warned till you see the webcartoon below…”

Thanks Dave, I really need to be reminded so boldly, and so badly. Now, off to that one last tick of the Publish button, logout of Wordpress, no more blogging, bloghopping, and for once, forget about blogsphere and your blogfriends for the meantime, and WORK, WORK, WORK!

hi sexy mom, thanks for dropping by again and again. sorry for replying late, it’s only now i was able to reconnect with the blogsphere again. had to accomplish so many pending workloads. :) we actually have the same working style. i also work best at stressful conditions kaya i tend to delay work lalo na kapag malayo pa deadlines. :)
tito boy and vida, kayo ha, lurk lurk pa dito sa blog! ang daya talaga! thankfully, i’ve already finished my work at exactly 12:28NN today. what can you say about that huh?

Like sexy mom, i thrive under stress! That’s why my boss did not have an inkling that i was burning out because i was able to deliver everything she asked… I really did not procrastinate; the load was just too much.
I hope you will be able to shorten your list soon. I know the knot-in-the-stomach feeling when there’s so much deadline to beat and so little time. Good luck!

hi chats! hehe, too bad for the work overload for you. well, at least you managed to have survived quite well, “grace under pressure” as they say.

yup, i thankfully managed to at least shorten the list of procrastinated work. too bad lang, i missed the blogsphere for a while. :)

Not good to procrastinate, though in some remote instances, procrastination can even save lives! LOL! Well, maybe those are mere coincidences. Truth is - we should do our work promptly to finish on time. Oh, look who’s talking! hahaha!

naku, etong work talaga, pampasira ng blogging career natin!

I found the first cartoon so funny ‘coz I could really relate. I love putting things aside to spend some time on the computer.

I’ve always been a procrastinator even in school but I seem to do well with school papers when I’m in a hurry to beat the deadline.

hahaha, procrastinating ka rin since school days. bad habit ‘no? pero pag blogging and bloghopping, kahit umagahin. :) tara na, let’s change for the better na.
