A LETTER FOR A SON ON HIS 3RD BIRTHDAY

Dear Son,

It’s the first day of April. And what can I say? You’re a certified 3-year old now and all grown-up!

It’s been 3 years since that one faithful day and memories of that are still fresh in my mind. I can very well remember your first cries as you depend on me for milk, your wiggling and kicking as a way to call our attention for you be washed up as you get irritated when you are wet or soiled, and your cute coos as you get amazed with just a simple colorful mobile rotating in music atop of you.

But look at you now. You’re all grown up. You can independently feed your self now, you can pee at your own and say your finished doing your poop and needs to be washed up, and you very well express yourself now in words and laughter and grin as you feel happy or sad on something.

Sometimes Dad and I terribly misses the Little Baby that we used to carry so lightly onto our arms and the smell of milk curdles and baby powder and oil onto a newly-born’s bare skin. Because now, that Little One is baby-no-more as we can hardly carry a huge 22-kilo and we have no other choice but to bear that amoy-araw of your as your involved your self in toddler activities. Sometimes the Mommy-heart in me wished you’d just stop growing so I can still enjoy you as you are. But I know very well you can’t, it’s inevitable that you grow.

So as your journey through life and spread your wings, must I say that I will always be here to guide you in every way I can.

I love you Son. Happy, happy Birthday.

Love always,
Mommy
