feng on Apr 26th 2007 Nico's Milestones
Since Nico turned one, we were so excited to watch for his remarkable milestones such as communicating as we expected he’ll be talking and conversing with us sooner. But months passed us by and still we haven’t heard our son talking that much to a point we were contented enough if we hear him mumble just one or two words.
We began to worry at one time when my Mom commented that it is unusual for Nico’s age still not being able to converse with an adult. Worried and paranoid the Lola was, she even suggested bringing Nico to an expert, a developmental pediatrician that is, so that we can have a factual assessment on the developments of our son. Timing it was, we were then really intending to have Nico seen by an expert as we noticed how he mastered reciting and recognizing the Alphabet and counting numbers 1-100 back and forth, just in a few sittings when he was 2.3 years old. feng on Apr 23rd 2007 Nico's Milestones, The Mommy-Heart in Me
Everyone’s been pressuring us (most especially my Mom) to already wean Nico from the bottle. Since Nico is already three-year old, they commented that it’s about time to train him to drink milk from a cup. Jun and I know for a fact that ideally, kids of Nico’s age should already be drinking for a cup and no more from a bottle (although somewhere across a forum in Baby/Parents Center, there was a debate over WHEN and HOW to wean a child from the bottle). However, we are quite guilty for being not that really eager to wean our preschooler.
We attempted training Nico as early as one year old by buying him a sippy/trainer cup. But I guess our parenting powers weren’t that enough to convince him at that time that we gave up so easily. And so, we continue to put off our weaning task on a later date as we thought all of us in the family will be having the worst of both worlds. That is, Jun and I getting angry and frustrated (over not being successful in weaning) and making Nico’s life miserable without his beloved bottle. In fact, we almost forgot about the weaning thing for months that we even planned to buy Avent’s Magnum 330ml (11-oz) bottle since Nico is most often bitin with Avent’s regular 260ml (9-oz). feng on Apr 18th 2007 My so-called Work Life

The weblog cartoon (courtesy of Dave Walker of the We Blog Cartoons) above best describes my working attitude right now. I’m procrastinating again! It’s 12:43 NN in my PC’s clock and though it’s still lunchbreak, my working conciense tells me I have to buckle down and work seriously to be able to accomplish so many pending tasks I need to do: Continue Reading »
feng on Apr 17th 2007 Digiscraps, Nico's Milestones
I’m guilty for being too lazy to do at least one digiscrap these days. So to make up for some lost memoires, I decided to create one today. I plan to layout the following photos: Continue Reading »

And so Nico’s officially 3-years old! Does that mean we’re done with the Terrible Twos? Here’s what the Baby/Parent’s Center has to say:
Not so fast. Defiant behavior and temper tantrums don’t magically disappear when your child turns 3. In fact, power struggles can continue for years (just wait until your child becomes a teenager).
Oh my, so that would mean 10 more years of waiting? But really, this Expert’s answer from the Baby/Parent’s Center is so true. What’s surprising was that, it’s even more worse than when Nico was still 2-years old. He now knows how to act overly just to get our attention, simultenous with crying–with tears or no tears, and mumbling his paawa-effect na “Mommy or Daddy” so many times. Just today, before I go work, Nico was having his tantrums again. The clever Yaya was even able to document in video the tantrums of our “Best Actor of All Times”. Continue Reading »
feng on Apr 11th 2007 Multimedia, Our Soulmate Nanny/My Secretaries at Home
A few more minutes and we were about to eat dinner last night when suddenly a news on TV Patrol World of ABS-CBN 2 caught all our attention. It was about a Nanny who was caught by her employers on hidden camera hitting her alaga.
I quickly grabbed Jun’s mobile phone to record the news and thought it would be good to have it recorded in this online journal. My apologies for the low-resolution and the somewhat unstable shots I have in the video. Nico was hugging around me the whole time I was recording the video, making the video shaky. I was trying to search YouTube for this video, but I failed finding one. Continue Reading »
feng on Apr 9th 2007 Life as a Homemaker
We’re back from an almost week-long vacation and I can say that this vacation of ours must have been the most satisfying in so far as enjoyment and quality time for the family is concerned. It was satisfying in a sense that the vacation days, which lasted up to six days, where but just right for the activities we intentionally lined-up to include a general cleaning of the home, an exclusive relaxation in Subic (a separate post to follow, my digicam need be repaired as it was so abused) and most importantly, being able to have accomplished our personal calls for meaningful reflections.
Perhaps the added holiday, which was 09 April, Araw ng Kagitingan, made a lot of difference in the usual vacations that we had in so far as mine and Jun’s lives in the corporate world are concerned. Unlike the past vacations which were sort of bitin (you know, the feeling of lazily waking up the following day to force myself to work), this extended vacation day even allowed us to organize a lot of stuff at home that we left pending and some more relaxation and bonding time with our home, which we missed so much for the five longest days.
So tomorrow, I’m pretty sure all of us in the family are set to face reality again—Jun and me in the corporate world, and Nico in his playful, colorful world—with much energy and vigor and inspiration!
