WEEKEND REFLECTION (27 NOV-03 DEC)

How time flies and there are so many things that I wish to be journalized in this diary. In as much as I’d like to however, my busy schedule most often gets in the way. Good thing I landed on Kay’s Kooky Kay, a participant in the Weekend Reflection that was started by Judi in her Mommy of Two. Even if I am not able to post entries as often, the Weekend Reflection would be a sustaining opportunity for me to record and assess what happened in a week. So here goes my first entry.
On Monday, I got a very enlightening email in my yahoo Inbox from a friend/former
classmate way back in college who had read some of my recent entries in the Blog. I was so surprised (but at the same time flattered) to have received such comments from a male friend (because most often than not, my girl friends are the usually the ones who religiously and patiently read and comment in many of my very long Blog entries). It is so inspiring to receive honest comments from Blog readers and like what Judi said, interaction makes Blogging more fulfilling because we get to think out loud and get sensible comments in return.
Nothing unusual on Tuesday and Wednesday, I had my regular routine both at work and at home. I’m supposed to have a dinner date with two girl friends (long lost friend Dumai and Weng, a friend who is always in touch) either these days, but sadly it didn’t push through for certain reasons. We’ll try to reset on a later date anyway, hope I’ll see them soon.
Come Thursday, I gained new mommy friends via the Pinoy Exchange Forum on Parenting. Since then, I’m definitely hooked with the wonderful conversations and exchange of thoughts of Mommmies. They’re very talkative like me!
On Friday (no work since it was declared as holiday–Bonifacio Day), we got to shop around at SM Mall of Asia with my Mom, my brother Ferdie, my sister Chette and her daughter Chesca, and of course my very own little family—Jun, Nico and Yaya Ness. Although weather forecasters expected super typhoon Reming to arrive in Manila by noon, it changed direction, keeping us safe strolling around the huge Mall and the Manila Bay behind it.
Saturday, I got to watched Inang Yaya (translated literally as Mother Nanny), a local movie that tales the story of a single mother who was forced to leave behind her daughter Ruby in the care of her mother. Norma (played by Maricel Soriano) aside from being an all-around helper in the household of May and Noel, earns this loving moniker from Louise, the seven-year-old child she has cared for since birth. Much as we (Our Soulmate Nanny and me) had waited for the showing of the movie (since we can very relate with the story), watching the film was a truly bonding moment for me and Yaya Ness. With that, we value each other more.
Taking advantage of the ample time that we still have after watching the movie,
Yaya Ness and I decided to do the weekend grocerying already (we usually do it on Sundays, after hearing the Mass). We were so happy to have collected 4 of the 8 Caillou Educational CDs, they come as a freebie in Nido Fortified Milk (900 grams). If only the 4 other CDs were available in the supermarket where we did the grocerying, we could have bought more cans of milk (better luck for me next time). These Caillou Educational CDs are highly recommended by the U.S. Public Broadcasting Services to parents who want to nurture their child’s creative thinking skills by engaging them in games and activities.
Sunday was quality bonding time with my own little family, just the three of us (it was Yaya Ness’ day off that day, she visited her father and two sisters in Laguna). We heard the Mass at EDSA Shrine, ate out at one of our favorite restos (and Nico was very well-behaved, he emptied his food plate), and buy Nico an educational toy. We also got to see the newly-opened Tom’s World (formerly housed by The Dreamscape) at 4th Level of Robinsons Galleria. Tom’s, famously known for its amusement rides and arcades, also has a facility for birthday parties (which reminds me to already prepare for Nico’s 3rd Birthday less than four months from now). After a few hours at the Mall, we’re home by 5PM.
A fully-packed week huh, most of them spent in the Malls. No need to worry though, for as long it was with the people closest to me, I’ll never get tired.
